PP was talking about how it was polling, not the final results.

I think PP was referring to polls going in. That's what I was reading as well...it could go either way. Nobody expected this blowout. Republicans are in real trouble in 2024 with this anchor on them (but now curious to read the spin on why this isn't true...)

Sorry misunderstood. I thought this was about polls. The articles I read leading up said it was going to be close. Also my Nextdoor has been bonkers with people who were misinformed. I was incredibly worried, and I can’t explain the relief I feel today. More than relief, I feel hope and renewed faith in my fellow Ohioans.

I apologize, I misunderstood that the PPP was referring to polls and not results. You were right. I'm so happy for you. I know the relief. I live in Michigan.

I agree with the above post that while this was most easily understood in relation to the upcoming abortion referendum, this was about democracy in general.

The fact that 43% of people in OH are cool with authoritarianism is disturbing

Shhhh! Let them keep doing what they’re doing!

Biden wins in an even bigger landslide than last time.

Most of us want adults in control of their own bodies. That means responsibly using actual birth control, rather than abortion to avoid having a child. If you don’t know what you’re doing, perhaps use two methods of birth control.

Sure that is ideal.

And if that doesn't happen, it sure doesn't seem smart to force someone you deem irresponsible to birth an unwanted child.

Adoption is an option. Why end the little life?

How many have you adopted?

+1 especially ones with SN.

+1 that law was passed in the turn of the century to prevent corporations and special interest groups from overturning the will of the people.

Democracy won yesterday, and the people have spoken. Yay!!!

Right, and with the rape culture in the US maybe we should start using chastity belts again.

I dunno, maybe ask God. “He” ends little lives all.the.time. It’s called “miscarriage” and it’s very common. Not sure why god thinks it’s okay to end all those little lives.

The vote total in this August special election is 2,945,564 counted so far, getting close to the total votes cast in the 2014 midterm election (3,055,913).

They got the message, which is why they tried to change the threshold in OH.

I wonder why the polling was close even though there was a blow out loss. Or I guess less surprising to me would be if the media companies simply promoted an "it's gonna be close" narrative without polling that supported that narrative because horse races get clicks.
