| So funny to read these comments from the Fox News/MSNBC viewing crowd that have been duped into thinking everything wrong with this country is the fault of the evil other side. Our Federal Government has been in decline for decades as a result of being run by two failing political parties. It is what it is. Take the goggles of political bias and off and see the truth for what it is. |
England's economy is tanking because they left the EU under Brexit. Pretty simple. |
In case you hadn't noticed, our planet is on the precipice of an irreversible shift in our climate. Not investing in things that get us away from carbon waste will change where we live as a species, what we eat as a species and what species survive. If you think Gulf of Mexico waters at 100 degrees is acceptable and without impact on hurricane intensity hitting Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama and Missisippi, just as one example, then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe we should just end FEMA and let the gulf states fend for themselves after each weather event. |
NP... How about reading the ACTUAL WORDING from Fitch's statement
"Erosion of Governance: In Fitch's view, there has been a steady deterioration in standards of governance over the last 20 years, including on fiscal and debt matters, notwithstanding the June bipartisan agreement to suspend the debt limit until January 2025. The repeated debt-limit political standoffs and last-minute resolutions have eroded confidence in fiscal management. In addition, the government lacks a medium-term fiscal framework, unlike most peers, and has a complex budgeting process." That's all on Republicans and their intransigence, and holding the government hostage Continuing, "These factors, along with several economic shocks as well as tax cuts and new spending initiatives, have contributed to successive debt increases over the last decade. Additionally, there has been only limited progress in tackling medium-term challenges related to rising social security and Medicare costs due to an aging population." Tax cuts - all Republican. New spending initiatives - both Democrat and Republican. Limited progress on tackling social security and medicare - also due to Republican intransigence, unless you think screwing over the elderly and the disabled and being the only modern industrialized nation to do so is somehow a good thing. |
Nice speech. Now try solving these problems when your country is insolvent. You know what causes a lot more human misery and suffering than long term climate change? When a country defaults. |
| Pathetic rating agencies. Should have reduced the rating further. |
Nah, not investing in the people of the country and the technologies to address climate change are worse than insolvency. Being insolvent as a country is insignificant to not having a habitable planet. |
Ha, ok. Try solving any problems when your Argentina. |
We're not even remotely insolvent. But what the Republicans have done for the last several decades is create this fake Kabuki show to rile their base and convince them that we are somehow insolvent. They gave massive tax cuts to the richest and big corporations, while shifting more burden onto the middle class and small business. They refused to fix medicare and social security, by doing things like not going after the rampant greed and gouging in pharma and healthcare, refusing any meaningful reforms, undermining the availability and reliability of medicare, maintaining caps on social security contribution to guarantee it goes underfunded, and so on. They have been pushing Grover Norquist's toxic ideology of "taxes = theft" and keep pushing the lie that we're insolvent and "can't afford" anything and that somehow fixing anything or helping anyone is "communism" and "destroying America." And meanwhile, our infrastructure, our standard of healthcare, education system and so many other things decline. Compare that to other countries like Norway, Denmark, Sweden which are enjoying a higher standard of living than we are. Why? Because they pay for the things they need, and tax appropriately. Their tax-per-gdp rate is higher than the US. And, as a result, they have what they want and need, but ALSO have some of the lowest national debt in the modern developed world. |
In other words, those of Liz Cheney, “We’re electing idiots!” |
If all but the peaks of the Andes are under water, it won't matter. |
I wouldn't characterize them all as idiots but the quality of people being put in front of us by the R and D parties certainly isn't what it used to be. Yet the knucklehead wing nuts will continue to assume all problems are caused by the other side. |

So revealing how Democrats are shoving solar 24/7. Yet 80% of our solar panels are imported from China.
What environmental regulations does China practice? Zero. So the the fake solution is actually making the problem a gazillion times worse. Anyone who cares, wants to get the heck out of Communist China. |
