So idiotic and totally false. IAD has the most international air travel in the region. It’s also among the top 10 largest in the country and a major United hub. We get all nonstop flights from Dulles. It is one of the nations busiest.

Plus, no one is going to cater to the 600,000 DC residents. Frankly, that’s small fry. DC metro has nearly 6 million residents and the vast majority live in the burbs. The money and population are in VA/MD.

I’d rather sign a petition to strip Regan’s name from DCA and every other piece of infrastructure it was hastily slapped on to after his death in 2004.

DCA should be shut down now that IAD is connected to the metro. There's no reason to have an airport in the middle of the DC metro region that can't handle the bigger planes. DCA only exists for Congressmen to catch flights to their home state.

John Warner would be the most suitable.

While I agree that that would be a fitting choice, it would be confused with the existing John Wayne airport, the way Dulles and Dallas is confusing, as a PP mentions.

The underground train serves only 1 terminal, and does not move any of the passengers on international flights. They should have built the underground train for the entire airport, but didn’t due to cost. Now they are about to waste millions refurbishing the people movers. As someone who flies frequently, there is literally no other major airport in the world that makes passengers get off a plane and then have to wait in line, board one of those things, wait around 10 more minutes for the stragglers coming off the plane to get on, be crammed inside, travel across the tarmac and then wait to get off again, all before you’ve even gone through customs. It is a 3rd world airport.
