Why is it named after John Foster Dulles, why not name it after George Washington, Lincoln, Obama or even John Warner???? I don't like the name at all.

Honestly, I don’t know enough about the man to have an opinion on the merits of naming an airport after him. However, if you think Virginia made a fool of itself over John Foster Dulles, perhaps you will find comfort in knowing that the state isn’t the first.

Because you wouldn't be living the good life we enjoyed in the United States without the diplomacy of John Foster Dulles, nevermind the world saving done by his brother.
George Washington owned slaves and was married to a woman whose progengy raped his slaves and married Robert E. Lee.
Abraham Lincoln has the Lincoln Memorial which is a much more significant than Dulles International Airport.
Barach Obama has nothing to do with aviation.
John Warner served in the Navy on boats and not in the air.

John Foster Dulles isn't my cup of tea, nor is his brother, but what do you expect when we went ahead and renamed National "Reagan National"?

If I had to pick a bone, I'd go after DCA's "proper" name first.

At least Dulles's work was largely in the context of Eisenhower, who actually warned us about the military-industrial complex. Not that he should get credit for that or it should have anything to do with airport names.

I'd love to keep it to local geographical names (which, of course, include references to people in history but are more broadly accepted for practical reasons), and maybe diminutive local honorifics that could more easily change.
