What do the non mask wearers think today when they see someone wearing a mask

Anonymous
If they are young, I assume mentally ill who consumes too much far-left media. I work with several of these -- age 20s and 30s, no health issues, still wear N95 all day and won't eat at a restaurant in 2023.

Actively sick
Elderly
Afraid of getting sick and desperately clinging to masks as a kind of magical thinking

1. They are recovering from Covid but are now out and about
2. They or someone in their household has a medical condition and they want to minimize chance of getting Covid
3. They are prepping for a vacation or trip or other event and don't want to get Covid.
4. They have a particularly high level of anxiety and have been unable to re-baseline Covid-related risk in comparison to most of the population.
5. They work in an industry with high levels of exposure to others (healthcare, food service) and are trying to minimize catching Covid from the hundreds of people they come in contact with daily

This is what I think.

All those others options but you only think of this one. Charming.

I don’t really think anything more about it at this point than if someone is wearing a hat. I just assume they have their reason that isn’t really my business.

Yep. I wore one when I had to work outside on an orange day. Don’t care what anyone thinks.

Why do you care what others think?

If I stopped to think about it, and I don't, I guess I wold assume that they have something contagious, are getting ready for surgery, are immune compromised, or have an event/visit coming up and do not want to be sick for it.

Leave them be, they will decide when they are ready to stop wearing it.

I assume they’re sick, caring for a vulnerable person or weird.

It depends on if they have other symptoms of anxiety.

Anonymous wrote:Funny you ask because today I noticed a couple walking around with their masks pulled down below their mouth. I don’t get it. What’s the point? It’s not mandated and it’s almost like a chin accessory because you’re not wearing it properly.

For those who properly wear a mask, I notice them, but don’t judge (too much).

Maybe they are going to or coming from somewhere where they want to mask?

Maybe. We were indoors in a grocery store.

I would assume they haven't had a viral illness in three years and like feeling healthy for once in their adult life.

When I see a person with a mask, my first thought is "this person must have a suppressed immune system, either from cancer treatment or other immune suppressants like those used for auto-immune diseases"
