This is astounding to me. You're actually admitting, with zero shame, that you don't want people to be able to express their political opinions if they differ from yours? Let me guess - you smugly call Republicans "fascists" but you clearly don't see the irony.

You'd better believe people (of all political stripes) are aware there are school board elections this year. Funny that you see nothing wrong with promoting your OWN favored candidates, but can't bear to see others doing the same. This is one of the most important SB elections we've ever had, and I - along with everyone else - will be voting accordingly. I'm sorry that triggers you so.

If only you could do that without lying or fearmongering.

DP, but if the facts are on your side then you should rebut, not ask for censorship.

Thanks for letting us know you don’t know what “censorship” means.

Enlighten us, please. Asking the moderator to delete or lock threads with which you disagree seems like “censorship” for purposes of this forum.

I didn’t invoke the First Amendment because obviously it doesn’t apply to a private website. But “censorship” seemed appropriate in this context.

IMO, the moderator should delete lies/misinformation/propaganda.

Which is all that the GOP has so...

Maybe if you don't want your crap deleted then maybe your party should come up with an actual platform.

I think the moderator does a very good job on the schools forums. FWIW, I’m not a Republican and only a few of my posts have been deleted over the years, but I do have issues with the current direction of FCPS, which in my humble opinion stems in part from having a school board composed entirely of members of the same party. It’s turned into a mutual admiration society, not a forum for serious debate, which is another reason why it’s off-putting when folks like you advocate for political orthodoxy on this forum as well.

Again, if you have issues with opposing views, counter them with what you believe to be more compelling. Don’t expect the moderator to delete threads or posts simply because you deem them inconvenient. That’s not a good look.

I have issues with lies/misinformation/propaganda. Not simply "opposing views".

DP. You have issues, period. Especially when you pretend opposing views are “lies/misinformation/propaganda.” Grow up.

My big “issue” is the GOP misinformation/propaganda that has become so prevalent on DCUM. Very different than the “opposing views” we typically discuss.

The people complaining about the lack of grammar teaching in FCPS aren't GOP. And it isn't misinformation.

OK. And? Did someone call it misinformation? (I haven't)

DP. Then what, exactly, are you claiming is "misinformation/propaganda"? We're all waiting for you to answer this.

The threads obviously trying to stir up trouble.

What are your legitimate "different opinions" that have been called lies/propaganda/misinformation?

Best non answer I’ve seen in a while.

"I don't like what they're saying so I'm going to call them 'Republican trolls'." So lazy and predictable.

I'm OP and I forgot to come back to this thread. I see VERY few threads on the FCPS forum that lean the other way, but I do see a lot of "the school board sucks, vote republican if you don't want schools to decline threads" every day. I do NOT see "this school board is amazing, vote to keep these people in" threads started by democratic operatives. Do you???

Umm that's an opinion, not propaganda. And maybe they do suck? Now that you mention it, the lack of any posts in support or defense of them on a predominantly left leaning board is pretty telling.

Exactly this. Rational people, regardless of their political leanings, don't defend the indefensible.

People are allowed to consider any and all sources of information (including information that you may deem to be propaganda), make up their minds, and vote accordingly. Is propaganda merely views that you don’t like? It’s awfully inconvenient having others express thoughts that are different from yours. If only you could get the School Board re-elected with 100% of the vote, right? Anything less means that someone, somewhere, thinks differently than you, and you find that unacceptable and must shut it down immediately.

Propaganda goes beyond sharing an opinion.

https://www.britannica.com/topic/propaganda

Propaganda is the more or less systematic effort to manipulate other people’s beliefs, attitudes, or actions by means of symbols (words, gestures, banners, monuments, music, clothing, insignia, hairstyles, designs on coins and postage stamps, and so forth). Deliberateness and a relatively heavy emphasis on manipulation distinguish propaganda from casual conversation or the free and easy exchange of ideas. Propagandists have a specified goal or set of goals. To achieve these, they deliberately select facts, arguments, and displays of symbols and present them in ways they think will have the most effect. To maximize effect, they may omit or distort pertinent facts or simply lie, and they may try to divert the attention of the reactors (the people they are trying to sway) from everything but their own propaganda.

Wow, you're really doubling down on your accusations, aren't you? Still waiting for the examples of the bolded. But we all know you have no examples to bolster your ridiculous argument. Seems your thread isn't exactly going the way you'd hoped.

We see this attitude constantly on the political forums too.
