FCPS Republican Trolls are at it again

Anonymous wrote:NP. I don’t have any concerns with people stating facts or experiences their kids have had at FCPS. What I think is suspicious is the frequency of a statement like “the school board and Dr. Reid are terrible and they all need to go” dropped into nearly every FCPS thread without anything else to back it up.

Oh, ok. By now you ought to understand that the reason people think Michelle Reid and the SB are terrible and they all need to go is because they have one agenda, and that is to spend as much time and (taxpayer) money as possible discussing their ever-more ridiculous "equity lens," rather than you know, discussing ways to improve academic performance for ALL STUDENTS.

I do hope you understand now.

It's so obvious to me, but other people take the bait and then the threads get out of control.

This is astounding to me. You're actually admitting, with zero shame, that you don't want people to be able to express their political opinions if they differ from yours? Let me guess - you smugly call Republicans "fascists" but you clearly don't see the irony.

You'd better believe people (of all political stripes) are aware there are school board elections this year. Funny that you see nothing wrong with promoting your OWN favored candidates, but can't bear to see others doing the same. This is one of the most important SB elections we've ever had, and I - along with everyone else - will be voting accordingly. I'm sorry that triggers you so.

If only you could do that without lying or fearmongering.

DP, but if the facts are on your side then you should rebut, not ask for censorship.

Thanks for letting us know you don’t know what “censorship” means.

Enlighten us, please. Asking the moderator to delete or lock threads with which you disagree seems like “censorship” for purposes of this forum.

I didn’t invoke the First Amendment because obviously it doesn’t apply to a private website. But “censorship” seemed appropriate in this context.

IMO, the moderator should delete lies/misinformation/propaganda.

Which is all that the GOP has so...

Maybe if you don't want your crap deleted then maybe your party should come up with an actual platform.

I think the moderator does a very good job on the schools forums. FWIW, I’m not a Republican and only a few of my posts have been deleted over the years, but I do have issues with the current direction of FCPS, which in my humble opinion stems in part from having a school board composed entirely of members of the same party. It’s turned into a mutual admiration society, not a forum for serious debate, which is another reason why it’s off-putting when folks like you advocate for political orthodoxy on this forum as well.

Again, if you have issues with opposing views, counter them with what you believe to be more compelling. Don’t expect the moderator to delete threads or posts simply because you deem them inconvenient. That’s not a good look.

I have issues with lies/misinformation/propaganda. Not simply "opposing views".

DP. You have issues, period. Especially when you pretend opposing views are “lies/misinformation/propaganda.” Grow up.

My big “issue” is the GOP misinformation/propaganda that has become so prevalent on DCUM. Very different than the “opposing views” we typically discuss.

The people complaining about the lack of grammar teaching in FCPS aren't GOP. And it isn't misinformation.

OK. And? Did someone call it misinformation? (I haven't)

DP. Then what, exactly, are you claiming is "misinformation/propaganda"? We're all waiting for you to answer this.

What are your legitimate "different opinions" that have been called lies/propaganda/misinformation?

Yes the lying is what makes it different. The rwnjs have an aversion to the truth.

It was once upon a time the norm to talk about hot issues snd current events around the time of an election. Like, the issues that candidates could affect one way or the other if elected.

If someone posts a lie or misinformation and you provide the moderator with a credible source that contradicts that lie or misinformation, the odds seem high the moderator will delete the post.

As to whether something is “propaganda,” that’s more of a judgment call. You can’t really expect the moderator to delete opinions with which you disagree simply because you choose to label them “propaganda.” If you think someone is posting something off-topic or is obviously trolling, my experience is that the moderator will exercise his judgment and often clean up a thread.

But it sounds like you want the schools forum scrubbed of any calls to replace current school board members or the superintendent. That seems like over-reaching and inconsistent with what has long been allowed here (there are also, for example, many posts on other DCUM forums opining that Glenn Youngkin is a disaster whose political career should come to a screeching halt when his term as Governor expires, if not earlier).

EXACTLY ^^. The same people who call opposing viewpoints "propaganda" also call the people they disagree with "trolls." So predictable.

I'm OP and I forgot to come back to this thread. I see VERY few threads on the FCPS forum that lean the other way, but I do see a lot of "the school board sucks, vote republican if you don't want schools to decline threads" every day. I do NOT see "this school board is amazing, vote to keep these people in" threads started by democratic operatives. Do you???

I am doing better. I'm explaining why people don't want BS Republican propaganda on DCUM.

But BS Democratic propaganda is a-ok in your book, amirite? Not to mention liberal gaslighting. Got it. Apparently you don't realize how idiotic you look by requesting Republican opinions to be banned.

Ever ask yourself why that is? Perhaps it's because the current all-Democratic SB actually DOES suck and the schools HAVE declined. Even most Dems know this to be true, but there are always a few holdouts (you, for example) who will continue to "vote blue no matter who," thus perpetuating this absurd monopoly of extremists on the SB. And you've still given zero examples of the "lies and propaganda" you claim to have seen. That's because all of the negative examples of this SB and FCPS are true and you simply don't want to hear it. Seems YOU are the actual troll, starting threads like this simply to "stir up trouble," as you put it.

Every summer before a big election (there are school board elections this year), they come on and try to stir up trouble so people will vote for their school board candidates.

Do you???

Umm that's an opinion, not propaganda. And maybe they do suck? Now that you mention it, the lack of any posts in support or defense of them on a predominantly left leaning board is pretty telling.
