Does your older teen do anything besid staying up late?

My 17 yr old lifeguards, does swim team, lifts weights with a personal trainer for swimming and is working on summer academic packets and college application stuff. When he's not doing those things he plays video games and occasionally drives to CVS to get himself a snack. Work hard on getting a job next year. Get driver's ed knocked out as having a license and access to a car helps with finding a job and/or service opportunities.

My 15 yr old:

- daily club swim practice (it’s early, which means going to be early)
- online pe
- online summer class
- driving training
- goof around/see friends/video games
- reads
- works (swim team coaching and lifeguarding)

Those that say goofing around all day is fine, see if differently than I do. This is bc my kid has more than enough time to goof around but still get constructive things done for hours every day

My kid is attending summer workouts for his fall sport. It's a couple hours a day, 3 days a week for now. In a few weeks it will ramp up a lot-schedule isn't out yet but I think it will be closer to 3 hours per day, 5 days per week.

He's usually asleep by 9 or 10 pm and never orders food delivery.

My 15 yo has: camp counselor job (20-35 hours per week), summer dance team practice (when she can make it), drivers ed, summer constitution team reading, and then social time with her boyfriend and friends. I don’t restrict her phone at all but Bc of her job starting early , there is no need to. She is normally a night owl but puts herself to bed

This. Cut back the allowance so she has $140 a month she has to budget, since she is staying up so late. Or, continue to make it $240, but she has to pay for her extras, like makeup or clothing she wants or music purchases or gaming or whatever teen things she does that are extra (you get the idea)as well as food.

She also needs physical activity during the day to tire her out.

Pelaton is online PE.

Like most summer schools, most of the work is done outside of "class".

Teacher tells them to run or do pushups or whatever. Student does it.

I'm all good with slowing down in the summer. That's healthy and good for rejuvenation and relaxation. Spending more time with friends, more time outside, sleeping in a little later- those are all good stress reducers and heathy ways for a teenager to slow down. Staying up until 5am and sleeping until noon is NOT healthy, and is in fact going to ADD to stress, biologically speaking. Same with ordering food at 1am.

It’s the same information for the health part: nutrition, drug and alcohol use, abuse and ways to prevent either, other health related topics like sleeping, abusive relationships and mental health treatment options. These optics have to be discussed and there are projects, quizzes and tests. In addition, each student has to prove he or she has performed 10 hours of activity every week, by a Fitbit or other tracking device. It’s not hard, like regular pe isn’t hard, but it isn’t nothing, either.

It’s seriously so much more actual exercise than regular PE would be.

I am wondering what it's open at 1am, beside gas station food.
