Or it says somethings about the principal who is willing to take a lateral move. |
She’s definitely making more money, and it’s closer to home. |
How much more money? Did principals also not get their steps in certain years like teachers? ACPS needs to get on the ball and give us those steps back. New hires with the same amount of experience should not be making more than those of us who have been working with ACPS. |
Does anyone remember the amazing principal at Charles Barrett? ACPS should have made him superintendent. Instead, he left the district altogether. |
Where does she live? Where did her kids go to school? MV isn’t that far from Claremont. They are 10-12 minutes apart. |
Do you work from home? For me, an extra 20-24 minutes a day is a big deal. |
She started her career at Claremont. Maybe she missed the school and wanted to go back. I think it's weird folks are questioning her lateral move. Folks make lateral moves in all careers all the time. |
Ha! I guess not according to ACPS. Not going to search for it, but saw a clip where one of the ACPS admins was claiming that you only move to a new job for more money. That's the only reason. End of story. It was when he was justifying the whole pay grade/step thing. I saw it and just laughed, people move laterally and actually for less money all the time. Quality of life is a thing. |
Oh I didn't know that - makes a lot of sense. |
It definitely makes sense for her personally, however, I think it still says something about ACPS that they were unable to hold onto this award-winning, well regarded principal. |
So is a better work environment. It's very interesting the things you find out if you watch SB/ACPS meetings. Also - to the ACPS apologist, don't you have a PTAC meeting to get to? This move says everything about ACPS. The only thing it says about her is that she's smart enough to leave a rapidly sinking school system when she's ahead. |
I’m a Claremont parent and I’m thrilled with this move! I’m sure there will be bumps, which always happens with transitions. Dr Panfil is beloved, so she has big shoes to fill.
But especially as APS Immersion moved to 80/20, having a Hispanic principal may help hire and retain excellent Spanish speaking teachers. Welcome Dr Burrell-Aldana! |
Are you done with flat out lying? |
Did Dr. Panfil retire, or move to a different job? |
The George Mason principal is leaving too? Too bad, she was a perfect fit for that school and the ACPS adoring parents. |
