Conservatives and climate change (a poll)

Burning corn-based ethanol isn't a "liberal" thing, its a corporate Republican thing - Joni Ernst is one of the biggest people pushing it.

I don't care who is pushing it. It is stupid, expensive, and counter-productive.

God bless GOP people like you. Someone shows you how “government programs” you hate are Republican and you suddenly don’t care “who is pushing it.” Democrats have proposed dozens of ideas to actually combat global warming and the GOP(‘s corporate paymasters) have shot them all down.

Republicans shoot them down and water them down at the behest of their corporate donors but also so that they can then point at those now-weakened and undermined efforts as "virtue signaling" because they are now only weak and ineffective half-measures. So it's sabotaging efforts to save the planet along with creating yet another mechanism for attacking the left.

You heard it here first summer 2023 temperatures for most if not all of the US will be the lowest on record.

I think it’s so adorable that conservatives always think it’s some ground breaking news that the earth’s climate has AlWaYs ChAnGeD. It wasn’t habitable by humans for much of that time.

And for you, dear sweet summer child. It’s just a cartoon so perhaps you’ll grasp its implications: https://xkcd.com/1732/

This is really well done. Thank you, PP.

Can a conservative comment on this?

Why wouldn't you?

I'm not a conservative. Looking for the posters who comment to the effect of "climate always changed so this is nothing new" to comment on the RATE of change per the cartoon graphic.

DP... For those conservatives on this thread why say "no, we don't believe in any of those narratives that the OP posted and neither do my conservative friends, we believe it's real and that something should be done about it" then my question to you would be "okay then why do you keep electing politicians who peddle those narratives, why do you keep supporting conservative media that peddles those narratives?"

It is the cows and their methane emissions that is causing climate change. Reduce the.number of cows and all will be OK. Only ones upset would be the chickens and fish.

Not all opinions are entitled to equal weight. That includes climate deniers w/o any expertise in the matter. And there are a lot of ignorant a$$hats on this thread spewing their opinions that, frankly, are false, misleading, and not entitled to any weight whatsover.

This is due to the dumbing down of America and the fallacy created by the right's attack on media that "both sides" are entitle to equal time and weight. They're not.

Climate change is real, there are scientific bases for it. The only real debate is how to manage it. That's all. Whether you're too stupid or obtuse or ignorant to acknowledge it, that is still the fact here.

Temps in the US don't necessarily have anything to do with global averages.

Yes. Temperature and weather is not "climate."

And why do conservatives who don't believe any of those narratives the OP posted still support all of the far right "think tanks" and organizations that have been promoting those narratives? Talking about ALEC, Heritage Foundation, American Enterprise Institute, CATO, Heartland Institute, Manhattan Institute, and all the rest? They peddled climate denial for years. And they used FOX News and many other conservative outlets to sow FUD around the whole climate debate, to the tune of billions of dollars, funded by a whole host of organizations and corporations - who you "mainstream" conservatives supported and continue to support.

There are a huge number of even small things that could be done. For example, researchers found that introducing even a small amount of red seaweed into the diet of cows would significantly reduce the amount of methane produced in their gut, by as much as 80%.

We should be listening to scientists instead of political pundits and talking heads.

Everything conservatism-related always comes down to "we fear change" - even if that change means fixing problems or saving the planet.

Oh, we will be, for sure. And so will you and your descendants. As will all the people who lose their homes and livelihood and food security because of climate change.

Global cooling is deadly

Warming is good. More arable and habitable land. More CO2 feeding trees and greenery. Warming is green.
