You're right, teachers aren't assaulted in public schools. The sand you're burying your head in must be very comforting. |
I have never been to Hawaii, since you asked, but let me tell you all about Florida... |
Statistically, do you really think a kid attending Langley is more likely to be exposed to gun violence than a kid attending Potomac School? |
Way to make your argument as granular as possible because statistically private schools are safer than public. For obvious reasons. You know this but don't want to admit it. |
Ask the families of that Nashville private school what they think about statistics. |
That was a targeted attack, though. It wasn't just random. The perpetrator picked the school he/she/they went to because of a political, societal agenda. There have been far more attacks and assaults in Davidson County public schools than in the private schools there. |
What about Uvalde, Newtown, Parkland, etc etc? |
DP. WTF calm down. You are the one who is throwing the thread off track with your angry nonsense. Go take a walk or something. You are annoying. |
| This type of thread is stupid. |
| One of the reasons my kid begged to leave their K-8 school is they were so tired of how disrespectful other kids were to teachers day in/day out. My kid isn’t an angel and certainly took advantage of the freedoms this progressive school offered but just on a human level the disrespect and entitlement turned them off and they didn’t want to be around any more. I do think the parents like most parents would have been embarrassed at the stories I heard about other kids but I also believe they’d have shielded them from every consequence. That’s the reality of private too - the work arounds so that there’s no actual accountability. |
I'm angry? Look in the mirror.
|
Yes, you sound angry. I find you merely annoying. You are not worth being angry. |

For what it's worth, private and charter teachers are much happier with their school than public ones, and are far more likely to encourage others into the teaching profession. For district school teachers, 29% recommend teaching to a friend, 50% wouldn't. For private school teachers, 51% recommend teaching, whereas 17% wouldn't For charter school teachers, 56% recommend teaching, and only 14% wouldn't. https://edchoice.morningconsultintelligence.com/assets/231100.pdf |
Expelled? Maybe to a different public school. In my extremely large district there is ONE alternative/behavioral school with a max population of ~100 at any given time. I had students "transfer" into my (SPED where they dump all the troublemakers besides the kids that actually have disabilities) class after doing things like stalking a teacher in the parking lot after school hours to threaten her at her car, bring a gun to school, etc. If a student f's up most likely they will be given an IEP if they don't already have one, have a bunch of manifestation meetings where their "disability" is found to be the reason for the behavior 100% of the time, and maybe transferred to another (regular public) school. |
| With all due respect, is asking people to make such broad generalizations helpful? |
