Your “sources” have nothing to do with this report book. Please show in detail where this meta analysis of other research is wrong. I’ll wait. Or are you a research denier. |
Yup. I can’t take people saying “we were coping the best we could” - no. There were plenty of people pushing back on the hysterics and urging people to look at the broader implications of things like school closures. Instead of saying nothing could be done, LEARN A LESSON and don’t lose your head next time. |
Not the point. The point is that patting yourself on the back for staying home does not actually prevent spread when people are just out there running your errands in your place. |
It's hard for lockdowns to work when people ignore them. You don't get to flout the rules and then complain that they were ineffective |
So are you currently in a government cage? Is the government cage in the room with us right now? |
No I went on my ski trip before lockdowns began. No flouting the rules. Look at the governor of CA for flouting the rules. Look at other democrat leaders who also flouted the rules. The point of the meta analysis is that the lives saved isn’t anywhere close to the economic and other costs because of mandatory lockdowns: The rules sure were not applied equally worldwide. Look at how many movies kept in production during the lockdowns. Remember when the hospital ships went home because of disuse? These look backs at history are important for those who will revolt instead of saying Bohica! |
The ones who died are gone and don't care. The ones who lost loved ones, the ones who had to blow kisses to their parents through nursing home and hospital windows, the ones who said goodbye to their dad over a telephone while a nurse held his hand as he died - those are the ones who care. |
Right. This is a UK (not USA) right-wing think tank. "The IEA is an educational charity and the UK’s original free market think tank, founded in 1955. Our mission is to improve understanding of the fundamental institutions of a free society by analysing and expounding the role of markets in solving economic and social problems." Not unbiased. ![]() |
+1 And Brexit was a malicious foreign campaign. Y’all need to understand how foreign bad actors have interfered with elections and heavily influenced regular people to damage and degrade their own countries. |

This is par for the course for Rs. “Government doesn’t work!” Then they run for office and do nothing constructive and vote against anything that is. |
Funny how this hasn't been deleted yet. So very interesting.... |
It appears that this topic is too soon.
Many people responding very emotionally and very partisan. |
We took my grandma home and she died in April surrounded by kids and grandkids. No way would we have let her die in a hospital during covid. She died of old age though, not covid. |
Actually it did, because kids in school are the major disease vectors. There is another study showing that spread goes down during breaks when the kids are germing each other up. |
