My ski trip wasnt cancelled. Just had loved ones die alone, give birth alone. Drug overdoses. |
Those are better than dead don't you think? Or are you saying you rather be dead? |
IEA is a “right wing pressure group” created to advocate for a hard BREXIT.
Forgive me for questioning the integrity of their research methods. They aren’t seeking the truth — they exist to build a case. This isn’t good faith research. |
I agree that we can and should look back and evaluate responses. But this study seems to be using some monkey math to get the results they want. So I'll wait for another, better analysis. |
lol!! no hon, it doesn’t work that way. you don’t get to be excused from your f-ups by saying “stop complaining!” |
Excellent post. Thank you. Agreed 1000 % |
Its ok. The exasperation you feel us your guilty conscience performing cognitive dissonance. In ten years you will admit you defended mass formation psychosis like those who finally admit GWOT was a tremendous wasteful carnage |
Agree that health measures were linked with morality and this was counterproductive in the long run.
My sister lives in a foreign country with a foreign husband and they chose not to get vaccinated. Nothing political about it, they just felt it was too new. No one would have dreamed of asking them about it because it was considered highly personal. Over here the topic of who is and isn't vaccinated, including kids, was THE hot gossip for months and friendships were ruined. My sister's family did mask for far longer than we did here because she felt it was the healthy choice. |
Stupid post. The ONLY reason you and PP could sit at home and congratulate yourself for how virtuous you are is because of all the low-wage workers bringing you groceries, your mail-order Peleton, and keeping the electricity and internet going so you could WFH. Meanwhile you arrogate the right to yourself to determine what harms other people should suffer to make you feel safe. |
100%, original poster seemed a bit unhinged to even dwell on this stuff and not like they proposed any solution other than "more freedumb", lol! |
For some people maybe it was a ski trip But there will forever be an impact on students who lost valuable classroom time, people who lost their jobs, people who lost their businesses, victims of domestic violence who were trapped with their abusers, etc etc etc. This was a collective trauma and dismissing it as a mere inconvenience only conveys to me how easy your own life is. |
How many low-wage workers do you personally know? And how many of them opposed lockdowns (not including school closures)? |
Hospitals were overrun and medical professionals were overworked and burning out. The lockdown prevented the collapse of the medical system. Perhaps the lockdown went longer than it needed to, but it was impossible to predict exactly how covid would evolve. |
This. Yes, there were mistakes made (school closings, I'm looking at you) but overall I think the US walked a decent path. Look what we did - got vaccines out, managed to keep the economy afloat, adapted to crazy changes, managed to not completely implode, and attempted, with varying degrees of success, to protect the most vulnerable. Overall, even our hit or miss implementation wasn't all wrong. It showed us things and allowed pressure to be diverted. There are plenty of valuable discussions to be had but only as long as people are willing to really reflect and think on it and get rid of these party line knee jerk reactions. |
Yup! |
