This is such a rich statement. Attempted murder just gets "treatment" and out back out in society. Perfect. Too bad no one pushed him onto the tracks and let the train take care of his treatment.

I assumed the PP was joking.

Honestly I am getting tired of people caring more about the attacker than the people who will have lifelong scars, physical problems and PTSD from an unprovoked attack. We sit here and play semantics with words like homeless vs unhoused, mentally ill to mental health disorder, Substance use disorder instead of drug addict while they are out in society harming people and we just care about using words that wont hurt their feelings. You want to give them help and then they refuse to keep up on meds and back to being a detriment to society. It's exhausting and I am over it.

No one has sympathy for the guy in this brutal attack. How does it feel to be emotionally manipulated by a Strawman?

Every case is different. I don’t feel universal sympathy for perpetrators of crime. Vast majority of normal people don’t feel that. Get off social media if that’s your perception of “other people.”

NP. There have been protests for the lunatic who was choked to death by the marine. The same people up in arms about that have nothing to say about this women who is now paralyzed. Or the Asian people pushed onto the tracks. Or…

America has never cared much about women getting beat up, unfortunately. You can thank misogyny, the courts, the police, and the press for that.

Agreed. But it’s so disappointing and infuriating to have silence from AOC and her group about this.

Agreed. It's exactly how we got into this mess

We got into this mess when Reagan cut the funding for a lot of public services, including mental health. Not because people care too much. Stop spreading lies.
hey boomer that was 43 years ago. Nothing is stopping putting homeless people in prison accept you

Even if she knew him she didn't deserve this attack

No one asked you or cares. You inability to see the complexity of the issue is your problem.
Anyone dumb enough to get mad because mentally ill people do irrational things like not stay on their medication.

Yeah people like you only learn their lesson when it happens to them or someone they care about. Then all of a sudden, it's why didn't anyone do anything!

DP. It is really not that complex.
We have seen time and time again that the people who have been accused of a violent attack have been arrested many times before. That was the case with Neely (Neely was on the top 50 list of homeless "at risk"). And so many more. They are arrested and then let out on no cash bail. And, they offend again. And again.
If these people are violent or continuously harass others, either lock them up, or put them in a hospital. Get them off the damn streets.
Innocent people minding their own business should not have to become victims of these people.

Yes, I used to have compassion in my younger years, but an unprovoked spitting incident changed things. If I see a large group of them on one side of the street, I cross. If one is loitering at the entrance of a store I need to enter, I skip it and find another or come back later.

My office building now has 2 security guards stationed at reception to deal with the homeless who follow employees in or who harass employees & guests.

I literally had a spitting incident last week. It was so violating and gross that I truly can't imagine how people handle worse. This poor, poor woman.

There was no way for a Good Samaritan to intervene, as there was no hint that the assailant would lash out at the woman.

Those are some sparkling white shoes on the homeless guy

Everything about him looks fresh and clean. I’m guessing the homeless part of this story is from someone with an agenda.

Just stop tolerating violent behavior from anyone and everyone. I don’t care if they’re homeless, rich, a cop, or the president. Hospitalize them, imprison them, whatever.

Neither the far left or the far right wins this argument. Each extreme makes excuses for their chosen exceptions.
