+1 People do seem to relish in bashing football while turning a blind eye to the risks of the sport their child plays. |
Keep moving those goalposts, luv. |
enjoy your brain injury dear |
People care about brain injuries. If my kid sprains an ankle or breaks a wrist, that doesn't derail them. We have a family friends whose kid got two quick concussions and went from a straight A student loaded up on APs to almost failing out of school. |
An earlier link shared information on that. Basketball has the most trips to the ER for ankle & knee injuries. A trip to the hospital should qualify as 'severe' but if you all you care about is head injuries, then an honest approach would be not permit your children to play any of the following sports: - football - hockey - lacrosse - girls soccer And then the other secondary sports that others have mentioned like cheerleading and skateboarding, etc The difference in risk across those sports is not great enough to permit one but prohibit another |
injuries are one thing. a sprained ankle isn't as big a deal as a brain injury |
This is DC. The dork capital of the world. |
I was in high school here 30 years ago and all the popular girls were cheerleaders (and all the cheerleaders were popular girls). I know that's not your point but it's fascinating. |
Where I’m from youth cheerleading teams cheer on youth football players. There, school & high school basketball & football teams have cheerleaders. |
*middle school |
Not anymore. The popular girls are playing now, not cheering for the boys |
So true. and I usually don't say stuff like that about kid activities, but honesty flag football is cringe. My DS (who also plays tackle ::GASP: ![]() |
Flag football and 7x7 (another way to reduce injuries) are both most popular in Texas and the south. They let the skill position players develop without fear of injury. Even kids who play tackle still pay flag in the offseason |
Lol no. |
I mean, you both are obviously stupid, which is also "cringe". |
