How do you raise girls who are confident about their looks?

I know the title of this thread precludes a lot of things, but shouldn’t we be talking to our sons and all kids about beauty standards? If you don’t teach them all, the culture doesn’t change. Women & girls can’t do all the work.

Tell all your kids that the hyperfocus on beauty is tied to capitalism & needing to feel bad to buy more stuff. They can resist if they understand they are being manipulated.

Sorry if this comes across as a screed, but there are so many feminist implications for not helping these kids value themselves.

Women are more dependent on looks in society. Harsh truth.

So she’s ugly

Have them major in engineering. Going to MIT when it was 25% women, I became used to being seen as desirable.
