They earn their place in HS by surviving 9 years of the rigorous curriculum at their top private…Not sure there’s any evidence the kids coming from public are more prepared. Usually they have a bit of catch up to do. |
If “catching up” is required, the public students usually do so and excel. |

You mean top 50 national or top 50 just for LACs? |
| I know nobody refers to Maret as Top 3 but about all but 1-2 of their posts are either Top 50 National (Miami #55) or T50 LAC (Spelman #55). |
Maret only has about 30 posts. Please circle back when (at least) 50% of the class has posted. |
Lol. “9 years of rigor” no. K-6 are not rigorous at all. |
+1. K-6 MAY be stimulating but it’s certainly not rigorous. |
Valid. Not saying it’s going to stay that way but still nice none the less. They have about 40% of the 80 or so 12th graders. |
Everyone know that BVR is not a rigorous curriculum. It is a great place - but not rigorous. |
|
What schools in this area, private or public, are actually "rigorous" in the lower elementary years? The only one that comes to mind is Primary Day.
For most places, *not* being rigorous at that age is a feature, not a bug. |

There are definitely zero girls at NCS who will be first gen college students. They’re all legacies somewhere. |
College will be easier. My dd went to NCS, and was an average student there. She is now in college, and she and her friends from NCS all say college is so much easier. |
