Many older Irish Americans were democrats in the 50s and 60s and then went very republican - the regan democrats etc.. I grew up in NY State and this is very common. Did you look to see who if anyone he gave political contributions too?

It's not at all a stretch when you consider that Fox News, the NRA, and Republican have been gaslighting their key demographic of white men. All three have convinced these people to believe that crime is rampant, minorities are out to replace them, and that the only solution is to arm themselves. What we are seeing here and in Kansas City is a direct result of this.
