Unisex bathrooms in LCPS

Especially with the privacy stall doors.

They are already doing this. At least with privacy doors, innocent kids can actually have privacy. They are already using the bathroom as infrequently as the possible can.

That speaks volumes about inadequate leadership in your school system.

Kids were smoking and necking my FCPS bathrooms 30 years ago.

Same could be said for the sheer number of “student holidays” we now have off per year and growing!

As a teacher I am so scared of bathrooms like this from a safety standpoint. Floor to ceiling locking doors =

-we can’t see if one student is in there or two
-we can’t see if a student is unconscious in the stall , which, thanks to opioids-fentanyl is not uncommon right now
-we can’t see if a student is being assaulted in the stall and if we could hear a physical or sexual assault occurring, we could not get into the stall with no under the door access

Like, this is just really really not safe. I get kids want privacy. But this doesn’t keep them safe which is the main concern.

Nope, but educators and parents from other school systems read all these forums.

So if there is space under the stall the teachers will crawl underneath to inspect whether all is ok? Serious question how many of your colleagues would crawl under to help instead of calling and waiting for EMS and police.

Have you always been a drama llama? My DD can’t even use most of the bathrooms at her school because admin keeps them locked due to vaping or the kids have stolen all the toilet seats. I want cameras pointed at the bathroom exits to pinpoint vandals and a zero tolerance policy on vaping. Sucky kids suck and ruin everyone.

There are 66 students in LCPS who identify as one of the other options (not male or female). Why would the county spend millions of dollars to make 66 people happy? Is this money well spent?

This is asking for more trouble. Bathrooms are already dangerous at school.

How about LCPS focuses on stopping the vaping and fking in the bathrooms first?

My kid took a picture of a used condom on the girl's restroom floor for 3 straight days before it was picked up by a janitor.
