Boy/Girl Teen Sibling Sharing a Bed on Vacation

Anonymous
Fam of 4, with 11 girl and 13 boy. my daughter used to be ok sharing with my son, but he's now a blanket hog and she hates sharing with him, so when we do short stays we get 2 queen beds and do boys with boys and girls with girls. my husband also doesn't like sharing with my son as he moves too much! But when it works out we have the 2 queens and a sleeper sofa and we separate them. I'm not ready to pay for 2 adjoining rooms at this age.

I’m still not understanding why people are upset/offended about me asking the question but not going to worry about that.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Worst case scenario I’ll sleep with DD and DH with DS.

Is this a trip or vacation.

If a vacation, I would pick some place with adequate sleeping arrangements.

It’s a European vacation for this summer. I booked the hotel rooms almost 6 months ago. One room was a Queen and the other two Twins beds. I checked yesterday and the hotel changed the Twin room to a Queen as well. I called them and to make a long story short they no longer have a Twin room available for us now. I requested a rollaway but it’s “subject to availability”.

Hotel prices have gone up dramatically since I booked but I’m still looking for other options.

13 and 15 year olds. They usually share a bed, though have to set up a border because he sticks his legs underneath people and she hogs the covers.

Not concerned about anything. Just planning for a trip and asking the question. Didn’t know so many people would be offended by a simple question.

You made it weird OP. You really did.

We just make sure each kid has their own blankets. They have to bring one in their carry on.

I know I will get flamed for this, we only have one kid (14) and still get two rooms. Nothing sounds “vacation” about this at all.

Way more acceptable than the PPs who think it’s perfectly fine to make a 13 year old girl sleep in the same bed with her 16 year old brother (who will likely wake up with a morning erection).

Anonymous wrote:I think gender does matter. Teen boys have emissions sometimes at night and also morning erections. I don’t think it’s fair to make a sister deal with that — traumatizing for both of them! I’ll make my girls share a bed though. My son went on a school trip where kids were expected to share beds and he said people just slept in chairs or on the floor — none of the teen boys shared beds.

Why would the girl be dealing with that? They aren’t pressed up against one another; they can each have their own blankets. Anyway, if either is uncomfortable, find another way.

I would NOT do this, OP.
