Boy/Girl Teen Sibling Sharing a Bed on Vacation

But normally we split up DD with me and DS with DH because hotel queens tend to often feel smaller than our bed at home so it gives DH and I a bit more room.

OMG, yes! We sleep in a queen bed at home and we are always getting two queens in hotels and I am always saying to DH, I think these are full-size, not queen!

Who said it was hard?

Not concerned about anything. Just planning for a trip and asking the question. Didn’t know so many people would be offended by a simple question.

I would never have them share a bed. We’ve done air mattresses and in a pinch, I would rotate having one sleep on the floor.

It’s no big deal for YOUR kids. Mine would never agree to this (same ages).

I'd put them on separate beds or air mattresses or I'd share with DD and dh would share with ds.

I think gender does matter. Teen boys have emissions sometimes at night and also morning erections. I don’t think it’s fair to make a sister deal with that — traumatizing for both of them! I’ll make my girls share a bed though. My son went on a school trip where kids were expected to share beds and he said people just slept in chairs or on the floor — none of the teen boys shared beds.

Thanks for clarifying PP. It amazes me the number of people on this thread who seem clueless about teens and their “sleeping habits”.

OP here. The reason I asked is that my kids seemed uncomfortable with the idea so wanted to see what others do. It’s on an overseas trip but I think we can get a rollaway bed.

I’m still not understanding why people are upset/offended about me asking the question but not going to worry about that.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Worst case scenario I’ll sleep with DD and DH with DS.

+1 my teens wouldn’t be comfortable sharing a bed and I wouldn’t feel comfortable sharing a bed with my adult brother.

If they are not comfortable, respect their wishes. Maybe buy an air mattress there if you cannot travel with one or get a rollaway. I would not make a teen sleep with their sibling regardless of gender except if they choose to.

My teen boy would be ok sharing with me/mom but not sure if he would if he had a sister.

DS shares with Dad, DD with me if a cot or pullout sofa isn’t available for one of the kids.

Why?

What about an adult sister?

Is this a trip or vacation.

If a vacation, I would pick some place with adequate sleeping arrangements.
