That is not a reason to force the baby to be born when it isn’t ready. You are not overdue. How incredible selfish and inappropriate.
People have babies everyday with no support person. You are ridiculous. My husband had no leave whatsoever and we lived out of state with no family or friends. Get over yourself.

Congratulations... geez.
OP I have no idea why people are being jerks about this. My OB will put anyone interested on the elective induction list at 39 weeks because it's totally reasonable and evidence based. Anyway I had a membrane sweep at 39+6 and that did it for me for my 2nd child. Unfortunately with my first though I had two sweeps and they did nothing, had to be induced.

Gotta get that baby out for visitor convenience.

Who cares what the reason is though if medically there is no reason not to induce at 39 weeks?
I was completely miserable with a knee injury barely able to walk to take care of my toddler so by 39 weeks I was feeling desperate for baby to come out. He seemed pretty ready considering labor was only 2 hours long. I judge people who wait until 42 weeks way more than anyone getting induced at 39.... if you look at the risks there's no question which scenario is safer for mother and baby.

You don’t want to be judged while you judge others. Got it.
Your reason for induction was not for a visit, idiot.
Doctors do not wait until 42 weeks to induce, again, you’re an idiot.
40 weeks is full term so if someone waits till then, that is again, full term.

Wow, you might want to take a walk or something.
I know people who wanted birth center /home births and waited until 42 weeks hoping baby would come on his/her own. When that didn't happen the midwife said they had to go to the hospital for the birth. So yeah, again compared to people going with evidence based practices like a 39 week induction, I will definitely judge someone more who is doing risky things solely based on their l/d preference.

And what is the correlation between not getting induced at 39 weeks to wanting to have a baby at birthing center only to have to go to hospital as advised by midwife after waiting till 42 weeks. Was there not a time between 39 and 42. Do you always skip right over that time? Is it non existent in your world?

OP, I did all those things you mentioned, plus, very spicy food, scrubbing kitchen floor on my hands and knees, castor oil, black cohosh (all things recommended to me by others)

None of it worked, and at 43 weeks I ended up with pitocin. Had non-stress tests every few days, baby was in no distress, just liked it in there 😉 at exactly 43 weeks, born healthy, 8.2oz. And no, our dates weren't wrong, we were actively trying to conceive and were tracking everything

Just because someone doesn’t get induced at 39 weeks doesn’t mean they will go till week 42. You do know babies are born everyday at 40 weeks and at 41 weeks. Hard for you to grasp that, I presume.

Obviously. But based on the data there is no reason to be concerned about someone inducing at 39 weeks unlike what many posters on here seem to believe.
Due dates are not an exact science and some babies won't be "ready" on their own at all without a medical induction. The judgment on this is so weird. OPs reasoning for wanting the baby to come is of no consequence.

Likewise, it’s not concerning to wait till 40 weeks.

What are you talking about? Not everyone's pregnancy is managed by a doctor. Most midwives are perfectly fine waiting until 42 weeks unless other health factors come into play.

Your date was wrong or you had baby over half a century ago.

What’s with the interference of forcing baby out before term. Having a reason that is not medically necessary is not a reason.

Doctors don’t wait till 42 weeks, but nice made up story.

What are you talking about? Not everyone's pregnancy is managed by a doctor. Most midwives are perfectly fine waiting until 42 weeks unless other health factors come into play.

Midwives are not physicians.

You sound unhinged. OP, good luck, I hope everything works out!

The tired “you sound unhinged” dcum comeback.

Also full term is based on a projection. When I delivered DD 5 years ago full term was defined as 37 weeks. Ultrasounds and period dates can only estimate the gestational age. Why are people obssessing over somebody else's due date?

I did everything in the book and had to get pitocin 3 times over. I don’t think anything really works.
