OP I have no idea why people are being jerks about this. My OB will put anyone interested on the elective induction list at 39 weeks because it's totally reasonable and evidence based. Anyway I had a membrane sweep at 39+6 and that did it for me for my 2nd child. Unfortunately with my first though I had two sweeps and they did nothing, had to be induced. [/quote]

Who cares what the reason is though if medically there is no reason not to induce at 39 weeks?
 I was completely miserable with a knee injury barely able to walk to take care of my toddler so by 39 weeks I was feeling desperate for baby to come out. He seemed pretty ready considering labor was only 2 hours long. I judge people who wait until 42 weeks way more than anyone getting induced at 39.... if you look at the risks there's no question which scenario is safer for mother and baby. [/quote]

Your reason for induction was not for a visit, idiot. 
Doctors do not wait until 42 weeks to induce, again, you’re an idiot. 
40 weeks is full term so if someone waits till then, that is again, full term.

Wow, you might want to take a walk or something.
I know people who wanted birth center /home births and waited until 42 weeks hoping baby would come on his/her own. When that didn't happen the midwife said they had to go to the hospital for the birth. So yeah, again compared to people going with evidence based practices like a 39 week induction, I will definitely judge someone more who is doing risky things solely based on their l/d preference. Just because someone doesn’t get induced at 39 weeks doesn’t mean they will go till week 42. You do know babies are born everyday at 40 weeks and at 41 weeks. Hard for you to grasp that, I presume. [/quote]

Obviously. But based on the data there is no reason to be concerned about someone inducing at 39 weeks unlike what many posters on here seem to believe. 
Due dates are not an exact science and some babies won't be "ready" on their own at all without a medical induction. The judgment on this is so weird. OPs reasoning for wanting the baby to come is of no consequence. [/quote]
