If you had just read the WTOP article you would know this isn’t what happened. He entered her room about 50 minutes after she checked in, he didn’t bum rush her as she walked in. |
If the camera picked up him entering the room, it would have picked up her exiting and reentering right before that, but the article doesn't mention that she did that. |
I blame anyone who thinks it is okay to endanger the lives of innocent victims like this young woman by allowing mentally ill and/or drug impaired unhoused individuals to freely roam streets and parks and to have them living in hotels without the knowledge of others who might book a room there. |

This and another incident happened in Ward 5, so it’s worth looking at Ward 5 council member Zachary Parker’s Twitter feed and noting the way he treated the two killings differently.
A group of carjackers were stealing cars at 4 am, got into a confrontation with a resident, and a teenage carjacker was shot. The shooter performed CPR and called 911, but the teen died. Within hours of the shooting, Ward 5 council member Zachary Parker’s Twitter feed was filled with outrage over the killing and demands to find justice for the deceased, and linked to fundraisers for the deceased’s family that he asked people to donate to. He released public condolences to the family and held a community meeting about the killing. After the shooter was charged he released another statement calling for accountability. Now a completely law abiding citizen is randomly stabbed to death in Ward 5 by a man who a judge said was too dangerous to be out in public but was let out anyway. It happened several days ago, and there’s absolutely no mention of this at all on Zachary Parker’s Twitter feed, no links to fundraisers for the victims family, no community meetings, nothing. |
| How many of these murders committed by mentally disturbed individuals will it take for us to make some changes as a city? To actually elect people who have some different views? |
Holy shit, when will you realize that the DC City Council has no oversight of adult criminals or the Bureau of Prisons? Neither the Mayor nor the Council nor the AG had any part in whether this guy was released, how and when he was released, etc. In fact, the city very likely had NO IDEA this guy was out on the street. |
And isn't that a problem? This doesn't happen in other parts of the country. |
She was killed Friday. Four days ago. You must be thinking of a different stabbing. |
Judges who do things like this should be removed from the bench. If nobody is held accountable for such poor decisions, things will never change. |
No direct control is quite different from no oversight capability. The council had oversight hearings about the low prosecution rates of hate crimes under Jessie Liu, which lead to her increasing the number of hate crime prosecutions. As we know, the number of all prosecutions dropped significantly during that time, but apparently the council only cared about hate crimes (the oversight hearing was titled “Hate Crimes in the District of Columbia and the Failure to Prosecute by the Office of the United States Attorney”). https://web.archive.org/web/20200213190718/https://dcist.com/story/20/01/24/following-criticism-the-u-s-attorney-for-d-c-announces-increase-in-hate-crime-prosecutions/ |
Absolutely. This is SO irresponsible. |
Zachary Parker could not give less of a sht if an Asian American woman is murdered in his Ward. |
| It's all the knives flowing in from Virginia where they are unregulated!! Virginia is the cause of all crimes in neighboring states!! |
You have a literal mental illness, perhaps sociopathy. |
BECAUSE THEY ARE STATES AND CONTROL THEIR OWN COURT AND PRISON SYSTEMS. I guess we can now rely on you for DC statehood? |
