I was so close and now I’m shut out

Same. We’re now priced out of a neighborhood we love and hoped to buy in.

It’s pathetic that so many of the people on this forum can’t have compassion for people priced out by a ridiculous and unimaginable sharp increase in such a short time. Just confirms my suspicions that half of you are corporate slumlords, brokers, and builders greedy for cash.

Quite the opposite.

Many of us cannot afford million dollar homes and if we could, we would.
None of this boo hoo nonsense over a specific and very limited list of neighborhoods.
Buy elsewhere and stop your belly aching.

They are dumps and not work more than $300K

Neither are the houses worth 1.7

Sorry, not sorry that you’re too poor and want expensive things you can’t afford. Tough luck.

Yup. OP wants a 1.7m house and crying about it. Not willing to buy something less worthy. I own a measly 700k house, 5 bedroom 4 bath, free and clear. Also 10 years yoinger than OP. OP would spit in my face because my house is so crappy. Lol.

LMAO

They exist. OP may need to move.

It actually is easier to save for a house with higher rates. If bank CDs pay 5 percent and home prices are falling 5 percent each year piece of cake

No. Because of inflation and this lack of equity I will be working until I die.

As will most of us, sorry you are so spoiled that you are wasting your time throwing a fit over something you can control. As an adult, you can surely see that you can afford to buy a house in a nice neighborhood and fix it up. If you can't see that, you probably have some growing up to do.

Troll. Nobody who can afford a $1.5M house is waiting until 50 to buy their first house.

Im sure it's not crappy, and you OWN it! That's fabulous and Op could learn a lot from you about how to take what you can get and grow with it. You are farther ahead than Op will ever be.

Why does a single woman need at $1.2 houses let alone a $1.7M house.

I have 2 kids. And you are missing the point. No house that was 1.2 2 years ago should be 1.7 now.

DP I get you, OP. I’m sorry.

These are the same people on other threads saying “$800,000 really isn’t a lot of money” now claiming $1.2 is some wild luxury. Trolls.

We bought in poor schools area for about 500k. If you don't have kids you don't need to pay a premium.

I have zero compassion for someone who is mad they can afford a $1M house. Zero.

Same. There are plenty of nice houses available below $1m. That’s where I and all my friends live. How absolutely insane to argue that you’re priced out of home ownership because you can’t afford a $1.5m house.

If you’re not married why do you want a 1.7m house?! They are seriously not easy to take care of and maintain. Buy a great place in the city and live the single dream.

Did you put in offers? Or are you just an “open house” browser?

I’m going to be honest: there are still houses. Check out 22039. Sure, it’s not Arlington but it’s not Woodbridge.

No one wants to marry me I’m 50.

Meh, I’m 61 and while there are a lot of nurse-and-purse guys out there, there are also some great guys too. Give dating apps a try and just be really careful about red flags.
