For high school, we have been very pleased with Gonzaga. However, you have to be okay with Jesuit education.

Alexandria Country Day School (ACDS) - k-8. Our kids have had a fantastic education and experience there. Middle school tuition runs about $37K

Are you being sarcastic? SSSAS is second tier at best yet is more expensive than Potomac and others even though the facilities are dismal

What are talking about? What is your experience with school and when was it? I wouldn't put it on par with Potomac (super rich, conservative and a pressure cooker - but possibly higher academic rigor for the right kind of kid), however it is a rigorous education with fantastic staff and teachers in a great community. Their facilities are great and they are building a new STEM wing and a new ARTS wing.

I would agree it is NOT a bargain at almost $50K for High School. It is too high.

"Wilson with tuition"

Sorry no. We went to an event that featured everything the school offers and were very impressed.

There is no school called Wilson anymore in the DC area.

What is it that you want?

Do you want the cheapest or the most value?

Cheapest: public
Max FA at an independent school
Parochial Catholic School
Sliding scale (Grace Episcopal, Indian Creek)
Small schools such as St. John's Episcopal in Olney or FCS
Moderate financial aid at an independent school
Catholic high schools
Some suburban campuses such as SSFS
Independent Schools
Most
Expensive: Boarding Schools

The question is what can you pay and what are you willing to pay. There is no secret amazing school that people are hiding that is cheaper.

If you would qualify for FA, that's what you should try for. It's much more understanding on the financial needs if this area than the FAFSA will ever be.

But maybe don't chastise posters for naming schools with tuitions $25k under the going rate. These posters are helping you knowing that all of this info is available to you and that your Google works just as well as theirs.

In my opinion, you either go to parochial schools and pay 10-15k, or you might as well pick the best school your kids can get in and pay 50-50k. I am not sure it’s worth spending 30-35k on a school that is ok… i’d rather spend 10-15 more and send my kids to Sidwell, NCS, STA, GDS…
