Instead, she did ED at WM (and was admitted), B/c WM likes quirky kids and specialists. She self selected to WM and never applied to UVA— because she knew she wouldn’t get in.

Many kids in the top 20% of the class do this— don’t even bother with UVA because their transcript isn’t perfect. They don’t show up in the rejection numbers.

Nope. TJ admits are counted as FCPS because they attend school in Fairfax County. TJ kids have a high admit rate.

Nope. TJ admits are counted as FCPS because they attend school in Fairfax County. TJ kids have a high admit rate.

The students are still primarily County residents. If they weren't at TJ, the same kids would still be accepted at their base schools throughout the county.

I’m surprised she got into W&M. A few years ago she probably wouldn’t have. It’s gotten easier.

Not really if you look at their overall admitted student stats. They are just a smidgen under UVA.
Example GPA: W&M 4.51, UVA 4.53 (75%ile); W&M 4.15, UVA 4.24 (25%ile)

It normally comes before 8am and I thought I might get an early tipoff if they mailed early enough to arrive on announcement day.

27% in state admit rate. Do they just welcome kids from SWVA who manage to fill out the application because the NOVA and Richmond rates are not even close to that high.

The welcome 27% of kids from ALL of Virginia.

But it varies tremendously from county by county. Some counties don’t send a single student because admit stats are so high. Other counties like Fairfax send 100s. It’s all reported in SCHEV

There's no way they have 30,000 letters printed and mailed between Wednesday and today. Even if they did, there's certainly no way the USPS in its current state is more efficient than the online notification.
