27% in state admit rate. Do they just welcome kids from SWVA who manage to fill out the application because the NOVA and Richmond rates are not even close to that high. |
Yes they are. |
Why don’t you move there and find out? What’s stopping you? |
12% OOS acceptance rate will make it one of the toughest admittances for public universities |
The welcome 27% of kids from ALL of Virginia. |
Curious, I don't think 27% of EA applicants from McLean are getting in. |
Good lord, if there’s one thing UVA doesn’t need, it’s more kids from McLean. |
They agree, only kids from real Virginia get the massive in state boost |
Being from a Northern Virginia and being at private schools, my kids will not be able to get in. If we lived in Abingdon, VA things would be different. It's just a fact of life here in Virginia. It's been like this since I was applying in 1990.

As an alum and former NoVa kid with teens in a southern Va school system, I’ll take it! (Although I don’t really think it’s massive.) |
I remember looking at a countywide breakdown and Nova counties were around 27%. It was for the whole year though and not EA or RD separately. Let me try and dig that out |
PP here - here you go: https://research.schev.edu/enrollment/b8_admissions_locality.asp Arlington and Fairfax are 32%, Loudoun is 26% |
PP is seething at the one kid from Bland County who applied and got in. |
The people of SW Virginia would kill her with kindness$ |
