Good chic lit suggestions?

If you are at all interested in the British Royal family, I loved The Royal We. It's fun and entertaining.

It’s not out yet so maybe not in time for your vacation, but I’m excited for Jenny Jackson’s “Pineapple Street”. It looks fun! (Due in March.)

If you mean romcoms or light, fast reads, check out anything by Katherine Center.

Lessons in Chemistry has rape and death, so maybe not that.

It also has smart women, professional and personal success, and a very good dog. It's not "chick lit" if you mean "something that could be turned into a Hallmark movie you'd watch with your mom," but if you mean "plot-driven wish fulfillment you and your female friends can identify with," then Lessons in Chemistry is a good choice.

Right. The person asked for "predictable, but fun" and I think it's fair for the person to point out that between the sweet parts in Lessons in Chemistry are some pretty dark scenes. You have to admit the rape scene was startling and her stabbing the guy was shocking.

Rape is always horrifying but the stabbing was wish fulfillment, is what it was.

I just finished and loved:

Nora Goes Off Script
by Annabel Monaghan

Nora Hamilton knows the formula for love better than anyone. As a romance channel screenwriter, it’s her job. But when her too-good-to work husband leaves her and their two kids, Nora turns her marriage’s collapse into cash and writes the best script of her life. No one is more surprised than her when it’s picked up for the big screen and set to film on location at her 100-year-old-home. When former Sexiest Man Alive, Leo Vance, is cast as her ne’er do well husband Nora’s life will never be the same.

2nd recommendation for Abbi Waxman - especially loved The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, light but not empty

Sophie Cousens - my favorite is Just Haven't Met You Yet
Linda Holmes - Evvie Drake Starts Over and Flying Solo

Years ago I loved "A Match Made on Madison"

I just read Lucy Checks In - really good.

I agree with any Elin Hildebrand book. It's all beach read chick lit type stuff but very well written. There's a reason she hits the top of the bestseller lists every time she writes a book.

That whole book is wish fulfillment! It definitely has some dark things - but it is certainly not a realistic novel about the most beautiful and brilliant yet charmingly aloof chemist in all the land.

She tears out her kitchen to make a chemistry lab for pete's sake! And has a talking dog!

They're turning it into a TV series on Apple+

I'm torn because I loved the book but I don't like Brie Larson (I can't put my finger on exactly why, I just don't)

I'll watch it anyway because I'm curious and I hope it'll be good!
