Wow, I haven’t heard “chick lit” in a while. Do you mean romcoms? I think Bridget Jones’ Diary (which is a Pride and Prejudice retelling) was chick lit.
If you mean romcoms or light, fast reads, check out anything by Katherine Center. Lessons in Chemistry has rape and death, so maybe not that. |

Talia Hibbert
Emily Henry (but some of her characters are dealing with trauma) Ali Hazelwood |
| Lessons in chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. So much fun! Great characters. Set in the 1950s. I bet someone makes this one into a movie. |
I did not enjoy this book. |
| I really liked The Hating Game. |
| It's an old one, but I'm reading The Best of Everything by Rona Jaffe. Women who are working at a publishing company in NYC in the 1950's and their romantic lives. It's really fun. |

One more for Katherine Center
also love anything by Catherine McKenzie Jannelle Brown and Laura Dave |
+1 I’ll add Carley Fortune - Meet me at the Lake |
New poster but it’s got a 4.22 rating on good reads. Clearly many did |

I loved Lessons in Chemistry!
Anything written by Allison Winn Scotch On Rotation, by Shirlene Obuobi Funny You Should Ask, by Elissa Sussmann Seven Days in June, by Tia Williams The Unsinkabke Greta James, by Jennifer E. Smith |

The rape in Lessons in Chemistry is brutal and comes out of nowhere. Also, there’s a lot of sexism, an attempted murder, and a lot of mourning.
Just because the author made you laugh doesn’t mean it’s lighthearted. |
The movie is already made. |
