| As a Floridian I hope that DeSantis has to step down as governor in order to run for President. I don't see any way he can win as President because he's such a moron and will not be able to perform on a national stage. It would sure be great if the effort cost him the governorship though. |

This, plus if he did have sex with late high school girls, it would probably be illegal, but statutory rape of a late teen is different from pedophilia. I assume giving them alcohol was illegal. I can't speak to the grooming bit-maybe he did, or maybe he just saw an opportunity and took it without putting in all the time and effort grooming requires. Basically, even if Desantis did sleep with high school students, Trump is misreporting it. It's close enough though. If your best argument is "I'm not a pedophile, I'm a statutory rapist," you've lost the moral argument. Same for "I didn't spend months grooming them, I just got them really drunk at parties." |

This has been out for a while but no one cared. The New York Times reports that at the 20 year reunion for Darlington School, students recalled their experiences with DeSantis, who also reportedly attended parties where alcohol was served to former students right after they had graduated. A handful of students recalled debates he would get into about the Civil War and abortion, with one particularly tense argument recorded. “The Civil War was not about slavery! It was about two competing economic systems,” DeSantis allegedly says in the audio clip. |

| Lots of people make poor decisions at 23. If he didnt have sex with them, etc, and it was limited to showing up at student social events, I am not going to get bent out of shape. It seems pretty widely held that he is boring af these days. |
