| DeSantis is supposed to be a smart man (or so everyone says). He should know not to run against Trump. Trump is guaranteed to be the nominee and running against him can only damage your image. Nothing anyone says about Trump matters and everything he says about others becomes sound bites and the Republicans take it seriously. Trump destroys people and careers with his attacks. Plus, DeSantis is a Hispanic Republican. It doesn't matter if he's white or considers himself white. He's considered a "brown person" by most racist boomer Republican's in the country and while he may win FL in the primary, I seriously doubt he's going to win the traditional South or even the Midwest. Republicans there are super racist. I knew people from Ohio that didn't consider it a problem to use the N word on a regular basis in front of children when talking about AA's in general. |

For anyone who is actually “independent” or “moderate,” however, someone who - at a minimum - drank with his underage students should be off the table. Of course the entire GOP should be off the table for anyone truly “independent” or “moderate” but drinking with your underage students is bad news. |
