Harvard-Westlake? Do these include Athletic Recruits? |
| CA poster here. My list is accurate, just may be incomplete. 1 Stanford REA legacy, Princeton athletic recruit. |
I moved from the Bay Area and have heard things have been very good again this year at Castilleja (as usual). Bullying is not warranted but listing non-DC area school results on a DC-specific board is more than a little odd (even if it is only 95% DC area). You could start another thread with CA or West Coast early results very easily. Plenty of "DCUM blame" all around! |
| I’m local. Kids at private. Senior this year. I’m interested in all of the results. Not sure why everyone is so crabby about others posting. Lighten up!! |
| I am from MCPS. I'm interested in learning from any part of the country including private CA. Who are you to judge what I should be interested in. Besides, I've seen people from different areas post here many times. Are you new here? |
it’s always a rough year. |
| PP local with a Senior this year. This is my third admissions cycle. The results from each year from each of my other kids had absolutely no bearing on what happened another year. The kids are all different, the landscape changes. I think it’s interesting that people are so interested in what particular school it is. Because, in my limited, but current experience- it doesn’t matter the school. Kids have different grades, test scores, activities, hooks. Bottom line, any of this info from any poster will not help you or your kid get into the school of their dreams- these are merely data points. Thanks to everyone for posting!! |
NP. I am also mcps too and would like to keep the scope of a dc area board on dc area admits. No one is judging interest, but tjis is a local board. I agree with the PP who said the CA and Midwest posts felt out of scope. |
| I'm a MoCo parent and appreciate comments from those outside of DMV - as long as they ID themselves to allow me context. |
Agree...it's such a tough moment for kids (and parents!). Especially after all of the energy and effort expended. It's so important that kids can see themselves being happy at the remaining schools on their lists. Worth a read: https://raisingamericans.substack.com/p/deferred-or-rejected-by-a-dream-school |
I mean I think it’s a good data point. Are there differences between DC area admits and CA and if so why is an interesting question…. |
Since schools want geographic diversity. Yeah lots of differences. |
This is good to read from that article: “Swarthmore rejected President Barack Obama, West Point rejected President Harry S. Truman, Princeton rejected humorist Tina Fey, and UCLA rejected director Steven Spielberg! I’m sure Swarthmore, West Point, Princeton, and UCLA probably wished they had given the applications for these students a second look. “ Wow! |
| My DD’s school has done pretty well. Current valedictorian (also has a 1600 and good national awards and ECs) was accepted Duke ED. Current salutatorian with high political involvement was accepted Harvard SCEA. We also have a Wharton ED acceptance and a recruited athlete at Yale. Probably more I don’t know about |
What kind of school is this? |
