DH and I are both 5'8".
DD (who is done growing) is 5'5".
DS who is just starting puberty is 5'9".

This is true, although generally, height does follow the parents. So, those calculators can work for many but not all, or even the majority.

Height can certainly be unpredictable.

Add the mother's height to the father's height in either inches or centimeters.
Add 5 inches (13 centimeters) for boys or subtract 5 inches (13 centimeters) for girls.
Divide by 2.

I find this so interesting! I'm 5'6" and from tall Dutch genes. My hubby is 5'10" and has a mixture of tall/short in his family. My 11 yo is 60% for height and currently 5' tall (She hasn't hit puberty yet). So this predicts my girls will be 5'5.5! Our pediatrician had a different metric and thought they would be between 5'7" and 5'11. FWIW, on my hubby's side, they have female HS-aged cousins who are 6" tall!

I have daughters but my husband’s parents were 6’2 and 5’2 and he’s 5’11 and his brother is 6 foot.

Wow, whole continents of vegans out there. Who knew?

Continents of vegans? Where in the world is that?

me: 74"
wife: 68"

Formula for a daughter: 70.5"

13yo DD who isn't done growing: 70"

Surprisingly close. For now. I think my son will break the model.

I am 5’8” and DH 5’10” and DS 13 is already 6’0”. Older dd who is 16 dd likely done growing is 5’6” and little DD at 12, not hit puberty is 5’ even. I have cousins over 6’ including on the girls side and my family is all tall. I am one of shorter females. DH family is all under 5’10”. I think DS may hit the tallest of both sides by the time he is done growing. Girls wish they had more height too… but we will see where little one ends up.

Same for my family except daughter is 5’2”

The parent average formula would have me a full five inches taller than I am.

My son is not done growing and he is already 2 inches over what that formula says his height should be.

It all a guess.

What's a "hubby?" Is it like a husband (DH) you treat as a child? Gross.

Agree, I am 5’4 and dh is 5’10. Dd is 5’9 and DS is still growing and 5’11.

Yes those calculators are just guesses. We are very similar in height to you and your husband with quite a different sized daughter!

I am 5'4" and DH is 5'11" DD is 5'2" (done growing) and DS is still growing and is about 5'11".

I know so many families where the same gender siblings have a 5 inch or greater difference.

+ 100

My 2 DD have 6 inch difference

I feel so sorry for kids saddled with those vegans for parents.

The formula didn't work for two of my sons, but is close for the 3rd.

I come from a tall family- all of my brothers, my father, uncles etc are 6' or over. Some 6'4"-6'5". I'm 5'9. DH is about 5'9 and 1/2". DH has a relatively tall father ~ 6' but a short mother.

Our first two sons are DH's height (5'9 ish), third son is 6 ft+.

Our first two sons were the tallest in their class in elementary school, but they stopped growing around 9th grade and were surpassed by a lot of their "shorter" friends during middle school and high school. Same thing happened with my DH. So all the early predictions and percentiles were off for them, but were pretty accurate for our third son.

This crushed our first who was sure he was going to the NBA
