You have a large (for his age), destructive, possibly violent special needs child. You have a caregiver who knows him and whom he knows and trusts. You ask how much she wants, because $1k/day is not enough for 24 hour weekend care of your child after having him for several days already, and with both of you sick enough that it might continue next week. |
OP, can't you place your 3 year old in institutional care permanently? |

NP. Sometimes this is necessary just as sometimes it is better to put a parent in institutional care. |

I don’t have a solution but have a 10 year old special needs child who is similar and I have empathy. It is hard. For the person who suggested institutional care or mentioned violence, you are both clueless. Delayed development does not mean the child is violent or aggressive. But they do usually have a diminished impulse control that may increase the likelihood of self-harm or destruction (like - oh my friend is across the street so I’m going to run across the street to greet them, never mind that there is a car coming or a screen door in my way). You don’t institutionalize kids like that, as ideally their impulse control will eventually (but more slowly) mature. |
My grandma had covid and she stayed in her room for the whole week while our nanny usecthe 1st floor with the kids and did the same routine.
If you get worried a lot then get a Family daycare but not a center. I hear lots of cases of centers closing a lot because of covid |
I think for $1k a day, plenty of people would watch him. |
