Which HS magnets is your child turning down?

For PHS-

SMCs basically does not move
Humanities and Global generally have movement.

On a positive note, my son was taken off the WL first round.

I totally agree with this. I have a freshman at phs smacs. Global had a ton of movement last year, like whole groups of my kids friends got in. Humanities had some movement, and smacs had no movement maybe 1 or 2 spots. Smacs actually invited ~ 80 seats for ~ 60 spots.

I knew a few kids who claimed they turned it down but later when I spoke to their parents it turned out they never got in.

These were kids at the open house. They had folders with their names on it.

Why even apply to those if you aren't serious? Sorry not trying to be disrespectful; I'm curious.

They have to review the appeals first

Do you mind sharing MAP results for kids who got invited to all magnet programs?

For some reason people seem to get angry about this question. And then they attack anyone as not worthy if they share their scores.

That said, I’ll share and hope that I don’t get attacked because it is what it is.

Kid was admitted to Blair SMCS, Blair CAP, Wheaton engineering, Wheaton biomedical, RMIB, and the regional IB program. MAP-M was 274, MAP-R was 262. My take is that the essay and the other prompts were very important.

Those scores are high PP and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

My kid took the COGAT and was 99th percentile on all three sections.

Mine was very similar. Didn’t apply to any of the IB programs, but in at Blair SMCS, Blair CAP, Wheaton engineering and Wheaton biomedical. MAP-M 276, MAP-R 273.
