VT acceptance rate is 56%.

| Acceptance rate is 78.1% for applicants indicating that choice of major. VT has transparent admissions data on its website. |
Please provide a link. I’m not finding this information. Thanks. |

I didn’t think DCUM needed help with this type of thing but since you asked:
https://udc.vt.edu/irdata/data/students/admission/index#college This major is housed in Liberal Arts-Poli Sci. |
|
So what if it has a 50-75% accept rate?
Does that make a difference when these kids are looking for jobs? I know someone at work who just got this degree and is making really good money for being a new grad. The person had no issues getting internships and a job. |
| Thanks for the data point of one |
This. I don't get why people care so much about admissions rate. It's a factor of marketing, nothing else. What matters is what you learn once you get there and does that lead to the job opportunities you want. My son is at VT in a different major with a >80% acceptance rate where graduates are in great demand. The major has kind of a weird name and flies under the radar. Which is great for DS -- smaller classes and great opportunities. |

Since when does selectivity not matter as a factor in determining program quality? “Marketing” is an odd take but believe what you want.
VT should publish data on outcomes by major to eliminate anecdotes being trotted out as data. Anyone, anytime, can make any claim. |
I hire people and I can't say I have ever thought to look up the acceptance rate of a prospective employee's college when making the decision of whether or not to hire them. That seems bizarre. |
When my kid graduates with this degree, that datapoint of one will be all I care about! |
| ? Are you a different poster? |
They do and it's already been linked to, either on this thread or a different one. Plus, you could always use your google machine. |
+1 I think there's a petulant troll on this thread who can't stand it that people have very favorable reviews of this major and this school. Too funny. |
| As an OOS with a child attending my alma mater in VA - I'm so impressed with your VA public universities and colleges - VT of course included. Great education, great experience. We are grate-ful |
+1 Totally agree! |
