It is to someone involved in the intelligence community. |
There's nothing idiotic about OPINING about the value of a SAIS degree when quite a few senior individuals in the IC have studied at SAIS. That doesn't mean the opinion is 100% valid or accepted by everyone - you obviously don't, and that's fine. |
You're such an idiot you don't even understand that "I have heard is that it is a degree chasing a "hot trend"" and "The VT is a quick hit technical degree" are the opinions that are idiotic. I said nothing against SAIS. How do you work at a think tank with such poor reading comprehension skills? |
^^Clearly someone who has no idea what this major entails. NSFA is not a "technical" degree, and most pair it with a relevant major, often an in-demand language (Russian, Arabic, etc.). If you want to talk trendy majors, look no further than CS. |
+1 I'm sensing some of the usual trolls, who can't stand it if their major or college of choice isn't being discussed. |
National Security and Foreign Affairs is "exotic or creative-sounding" to you? Kind of sounds like you might not get out much... |
Did you even read the OP? Good grief. |
+1 Bizarre deflection on the part of the PP. |

I have to laugh at the dope sniffing at this major and calling it a "quick hit" - whatever that means.
"The national security and foreign affairs major focuses on international interactions and offers a comparative perspective on the contemporary global system with an emphasis on foreign language proficiency. Select from nine languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish, to fulfill this requirement. The major analyzes the role of diplomacy in the management of world affairs and examines U.S. strategy and foreign policy. You will critically think about the current and future global geopolitical environment, the use of military force, the informational issues that contribute to the implementation of strategy, and counterterrorism and homeland security. We connect theory to practice and provide you with a hands-on, practical approach to analyze threats that challenge security both at home and abroad. Study at one of only a few universities offering the major with renowned faculty who specialize in national security. We offer broad training in the liberal arts, emphasizing the study of foreign languages. Opportunities to pursue undergraduate research, conduct field studies, and participate in study abroad are available. Many of our students also engage in the Department of State’s Diplomacy Lab Program and Wonk Tank competition." |
+1 I majored in Int'l Affairs at another university, but would have loved this. |
I'm sorry that something in your life has made you such a mean and spiteful person. If you try to be kind, you will be happier and probably live longer. |
DP. You’re the one who is inexplicably determined to bring up other schools on a thread that is specifically about VT and its NSFA major. Go away if you can’t stay on topic. |
You are confusing prior posters/mixing them together. I wasn't the one who first mentioned SAIS or claimed to work in the IC. |
