Here are some things my teen will actually eat and enjoy for snacks:
Ham & cheese rollups/turkey & cheese rollups; Ants on a log (PB spread thinly on celery with a few raisins); Bacon (fat is fine for teens!); Bag of microwave popcorn sprinkled with chili powder; High protein bagel (Dave's Killer Bread) with mozz. cheese melted on top; Pepperoni sticks or bacon jerky with a side of fruit; Sliced apple with PB to dip. Many of the other suggested snacks here are simply unappealing to hungry teens, no matter what they weigh, and will be rejected. Filling snacks with protein that are tasty are the way to go! |
Maybe the kid needs to move. |
Low-fat Greek yogurt mixed in with a teaspoon of favorite pudding mix. Too with fruit, or a few sliced almonds or whatever else they’d like. Filling and tastes like dessert. |
Eggs
Nuts and cheese (watch portions) Veggies and hummus Did the doctor not give you any information? |
You're right. Healthy snacks help keep blood sugar on an even keel. MIL had a "no snack" rule. The same blathering about not needing snacks if you eat meals. So, dh and his brothers learned to stuff themselves at meal time because they knew they were not allowed anything until the next meal. Healthy snacks should be fine. |
This is a great suggestion for dessert. Will give this a try! |
You cannot exercise away a bad diet. |
