Montgomery County is nuts. Full of Communists. No thanks.

for a county full of commies, it sure has a lot of wealthy people, more than the vast majority of "capitalist" loving red counties across the country. Maybe there's something to be said for being a commie, then. If only those capitalist loving red counties had more wealthy commies.

Communists tend to have a lot of very wealthy people, who crave the power. Armand Hammer for example.

Scary! I'll be sure to lock the doors and keep the windows up, the next time I drive through Potomac. Who knows but that person walking their dog is a Communist! And the dog too.

Potomac isn't Communist. Silver Spring/Takoma Park is Communist. Communists control the government. Everyone who voted for the current County Executive is a Communist/is endorsing Communism.

Sure, sure. John Birch is recruiting. Look out you commies.

MoCo is ideologically positioned between Oberlin College and Hasan Piker's Twitch stream

OMG I love Hasan Piker. THis made me laugh so much.

What is your point?

Mine is no one with a brain would move to VA with Youngkin.

Fixed it for you.

VA idiots voted in a liar. So you effectively live in a place that has dumber people than MD.
Good luck with that crap.

Oh, sweet one. Take a visit to Baltimore, Western Maryland, and the Eastern Shore and tell me that the people in Maryland are not dumb. They are so stupid that the Democrats have been screwing them over for years with glee.

Western MD and eastern shore mostly vote red, though.

Talk about dumb.

Great example of the overuse of hyperbole rendering a term meaningless

Count Otto von Bismarck was a Communist!

I'm still waiting for someone to explain what Montgomery County has anything to do with communism.

The socialist who lives in a $2.7 million house? He would be a perfect fit for MoCo.

No, you're not. Marc Elrich is a 73-year-old man who was first elected to the county council in 2006. I just can't with the descriptions of him as if he were Trotsky, Abimael Guzmán, and Emma Goldman all rolled up into one.

Most places are to the right of MoCo.

Not just Elrich, you also have Kristin Mink, Kate Stewart, Will Jawando, and the whole Takoma Park/Silver Spring People's Vanguard.

Except MoCo is full of immigrants from Latin America, Asia, and Africa who are actually moderate, if not fairly conservative. They would vote R when eligible if the party was less obviously racist and xenophobic.

They would vote for Republicans if the Republicans ... weren't Republicans.

Elrich has a ton of support from the Salvadoran and Ethiopian communities.

dp.. ok, but that's an overall small minority of people in MoCo, and according to some people, the vast majority of Salvadorians can't even vote.

Also, FFX county has a lot of immigrants, but I guess they are a different shade, so it's different. Right?

Unless Fairfax County's immigrants are green and come from Mars, then no, it's obviously not different. This whole "immigrants are actually very conservative and naturally Republican" thing does not seem to be persuading a majority of immigrant voters.

Or maybe, just maybe, immigrants are not an ideological monolith, and those who vote, based on the candidate they trust? Sure, I know a lot of wealthy Asian and South Asian families in Potomac who lean center-right. I also know that the Salvadoran, Ethiopian, Eritrean and West African communities in Silver Spring have supported Elrich for a long time because he's been around listening and responding to their concerns. And he's not actually a Communist.
