| I moved from moco to Loudoun a few years ago to be closer to work (Fairfax county). It seems like even though nova is very blue it’s not as blue as moco MD. There are more moderates/conservatives here, and I’m watching moco move farther to the left with people like Elrich. I have some friends here who insist that nova is just as liberal as moco but I have to disagree. Thoughts? Maybe it’s because I live out in Ashburn and don’t live in Alexandria or McLean. |
| Yes, it's exburbs. Around the beltway is much different |
| Loudoun is more conservative than Fairfax, Arlington and Alexandria. |
No, you're not. Marc Elrich is a 73-year-old man who was first elected to the county council in 2006. I just can't with the descriptions of him as if he were Trotsky, Abimael Guzmán, and Emma Goldman all rolled up into one. |
Most places are to the right of MoCo. Not just Elrich, you also have Kristin Mink, Kate Stewart, Will Jawando, and the whole Takoma Park/Silver Spring People's Vanguard. |
Alexandria is halfway between the Pentagon and Belvoir. The population is more conservative than it appears |
Alexandria is politically on par with Silver Spring. Arlington more like Bethesda. Everywhere else in NoVa is moderate, whereas MoCo is decidedly left wing except for Potomac. I would say Potomac is closer politically to the rest of NoVa outside of Arlington & Alexandria. |
Military-connected families more often choose areas like Fort Hunt and Kingstowne, not as much the City of Alexandria. |
| Most places are normal. MoCo is not. |
| To answer your question: Yes, NoVa is less liberal than MoCo. |
| Yes, for sure. |
|
Berkeley is less liberal than MoCo
MoCo is ideologically positioned between Oberlin College and Hasan Piker's Twitch stream |
| Loudoun is way more conservative than Montgomery County. |
People were calling him a communist when he was first on the council. The difference is that he’s the executive now. |
| NoVA likes to pretend there is a blue wall around it, protecting it from Youngkin's politics, but it's not true. NoVa is less liberal than MoCo, and I say this as an Independent. |
