So Urkaine slaughtered over 10,000 ethnic Russian civilians, forcing Putin to invade it and put an end to that? I'm going to have to ask for cites for that. |

Very few countries are innocent. It doesn't mean that Russia starting a war is justified. And it is true, no man of God would endorse starting a war. "Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God.. Bless are the meek for they will inherit the earth". I believe Putin (and Rs these days) don't believe in being meek. |
Are you completely unaware of the coup in 2014? That not all Ukrainians were happy with that? That some wanted nothing to do with the illegitimate government that came to power? That this started an 8+ year war for independence? That the Ukraine made war on anyone that refused to accept the outcome of the coup? That the Ukraine allowed regional militias to organize to intimidate civilians that were pro-Russia? Here's the wiki summary in case you genuinely didn't know https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_Donbas_(2014%E2%80%932022) |
That's... quite the retelling of what happened. Omitting the Euromaiden protests and the subsequent Revolution of Dignity, leaving out the invasion and annexation of Crimea by Russia, and the overt and covert support they gave to separatists in Donbas? Poor Russia had no choice but to invade Ukraine... SMH..... |
Put whatever words you want around the events, but the end result was a democratic government was overthrown. Not everyone was happy with that, and it led ethnic Russians to want to go another direction. Imagine if the J6 "protest" was successful and overturned the election. Californian's objected, and Trump turned the Proud Boys loose on them. Would you find the administration innocent? |
| This will also go down in history as a mistake |
Doubt it |
See what happens when you are fed on the pap of right wing/pro russia "media" |
First of all, and most importantly, the number of ethnic Russians killed in eastern Ukraine would have been ZERO if Russia hadn't invaded in 2014. Second of all, your 10,000 number is inflated. Third of all, the overwhelming majority killed weren't "civilians" - Russia sent FSB, mercenaries, armed and equipped paramilitaries, and that's who took the losses. Fourth, hilarious that you talk "fascist" when the Wagner Group and the DPR is chock full of neo-Nazis. Take your fake Putin propaganda elsewhere Sergey. |
And leaving out that a solid majority of Ukrainians wanted to join the EU, but Putin's corrupt criminal puppet Yanukovich stabbed them in the back, and then when students started protesting, Yanukovich responded with brutally violent Berkut goons, which is why the protests escalated, and why he ultimately got ousted. |
| Huh. This thread got quiet. Sergey's shift is over, new shift hasn't arrived - Anatoly didn't come in, he's drunk - Dima got mobilized last week, he's now a frozen corpse lying on a hill with a bunch of other mobiks outside Bakhmut, but his Mamochka probably won't find that out til spring. |
Yes, like you doubted Biden would involve us in another war. |
And the description “got ousted” still leaves out that Yanukovych signed a deal with protest opposition leaders in which he vowed not to declare a state of emergency, and acceded to demands for a new coalition government and early presidential elections. But, instead of running in the election, he fled to Russia, probably because he was a major kleptocrat as could be seen when his lavish private estate became “open” to the public after he fled. The Ukrainian Parliament voted to oust him and call early elections as he abandoned his post. |
PP seems to think that the “democratically elected government” that was “overthrown” consists of one guy. The one that ran away. |
