DS is entering 9th. If accepted, which would you choose?

I think your son could have a positive experience at any of these schools. I am very familiar with them all. They all have pluses and minuses. As others have said it probably depends on your son. I would rank GP first, Landon second, and Bullis and OLGC tied for third. Good luck to your son.

My boys are at Landon. I think you would be very happy there. We also looked at Bullis and were equally impressed so chose the closer school. I wanted them together, and so I only looked at schools with middle and high school both, however I know kids who are very happy at both GC and Prep.

Or, in other words, I'm not really helpful at all!

Bullis is 60% white. Landon is 59% white. Can we stop with the narrative that Bullis is more diverse?

Is it too late to apply to GDS, Sidwell, and Maret?

All fine schools but the answer is obviously Prep if he gets in.

Bullis is paying $50K for public.

GC is just not seen as academically strong.

Bullis’ campus is shockingly amazing.

I see the draw but def didn't choose my college by the beauty of the campus or my house purely on the yard.

Landon or Gonzaga. He didn’t like Gonzaga?

My kids recently graduated from top DC area privates and OLGC isn’t even considered part of that world, and Bullis is widely derided by most private school kids at the good privates.

And all those parents dping the deriding were around before the current Head of School started. He is fantastic, academics are a priority and more rigorous, and the school has done a 180. It's fabulous

Bullis was great at preparing students academically for the best colleges before the new guy came.

Agree with above regarding new head of school. Not much experience with old head but have been very impressed with upper school.

not obvious at all if you look at college placement.

Nope. I wouldn’t send my son to Prep or Landon because of the sexist all boys environment. I wouldn’t send him to GC or Bullis because my son is Mary and those aren’t very rigorous schools. If your kid is an average student they are ok choices I guess. But absolutely not to Prep or Landon. Not interested in raising a sexist jerk who learns ”bros before hos” straight from his teachers.

So what you are saying is you have no direct knowledge or first-hand experience but rely on stereotypes? OP, ignore this person’s advice - their intellect is severely lacking.

OP - My DS has visited all of these schools this year and currently ranks them as Prep, Bullis, GC, and Landon for whatever reason. I believe he is so biased of how the school looks. Landon is currently under construction. Although, as a parent who knows their child ranks them Landon, Bullis, Prep and GC as the best in order. I guess it will depend on if he gets accepted to any of them and then we will determine if our DS's favorite is picked or we will make the decision that we feel in our gut is the best.

We want the best opportunity for our kid to get the best academic opportunities, a welcoming community, a positive high school experience as far as nice classmates, and position him for a future professional network and college matriculation opportunities. We applied to Good Counsel, Bullis, Landon, and Georgetown Prep to enter the 9th next year. FYSA- He is a URM and we will be a full pay family. Which school would you choose if your DS was accepted to all and why?

none public

You may not a preference for a religious school, but the families that send the kids to Prep an OLGC do.
