DS is entering 9th. If accepted, which would you choose?

Landon or Prep. Would never even consider the other two as they are not worth the money - they are no better than public school imo. My kids recently graduated from top DC area privates and OLGC isn’t even considered part of that world, and Bullis is widely derided by most private school kids at the good privates.

And all those parents dping the deriding were around before the current Head of School started. He is fantastic, academics are a priority and more rigorous, and the school has done a 180. It's fabulous

Bullis was great at preparing students academically for the best colleges before the new guy came.

Prep, hands down has the best academic reputation of all these school mentioned. They got a few Landon transfers last year too so that says something on its own.

Academically Prep is historically deemed better and Landon is a close second. In reality, both Bullis and GC offer more variety in their curriculum and opportunity for a smart kid to take advantage of and experience. Unfortunately, the people in the forum are stuck in the past and like to continue to harp on the outdated fallacies they love to perpetuate instead of being honest.

Why did you choose those schools, op?

Whether the schools are worth the investment likely depends on the needs/interests of your child. OLGC has a great program for kids with learning differences and is a sports powerhouse, which might be beneficial for some kids.

As for what other people in the DMV consider “good privates” or “part of that world”, who cares what people in the DMV think? School is what you make of it and kids are successful coming out of all of these schools.

The one he wants to attend after a visit, since he is the one who will have to go there every day.

While I am sure someone could be very successful coming out of any of these four schools, they are not all of the same quality. That is not living in the past; it is simply the reality.
Generally speaking, Prep is the best school for academics. Landon is a close second. Prep and Landon are not as diverse as Bullis, but in my (non-URM) opinion, they are fairly diverse. Prep does not have block scheduling, which means a student attends all of his classes every day. My son found this to be a bit of a grind, because every night he was scrambling to complete homework in multiple classes (sometimes in every single class). Prep and Landon have some very good students, but they are not the Big 3 in terms of percentage of very good students in a class.
The faculty at Prep is fairly liberal and certainly would not condone sexism. Nor do I believe would the faculty at Landon. Charges of sexism are commonly aimed at all-male schools. I never saw sexism at Prep, but I cannot say for sure whether it exists.
OP, you say you are focused on academics and networking, and to a lesser degree sports. I would go with Prep or Landon.

Bullis

No to all the others especially Landon and Prep. Those kids and their parents are entitled jerks. I’ve also seen some pretty horrible behavior from one of the Landon football coaches. 0/10 recommend.

The teachers at Prep teach the boys the phrase “bros before hos.”

Prep has a history of sexual hazing acts - including at school assemblies!

People say all boys schools are sexist because they usually are.

I grew up in this area and I would never ever have dated anyone from prep, and I would never send my son there. Landon is a little bit better but not by much and they have a huge cheating problem.

It is hard to comprehend that you believe Landon and Prep community is more entitled than Bullis when Bullis costs much more than Landon and Prep to attend.
