I agree. However, in this case, she should have worn a different color hosiery to minimize the contrast. Because she was in a monotone outfit, her dressers should have provided her with hosiery that would not be such a stark contrast to the outfit. Basically, her feet clash. That was Charles’s problem. By all accounts, William actually loves and adores his wife. I’m sure he is pleased for her when she gets attention and doesn’t care if it detracts from him.

Well, there’s William personally, and then there’s The Firm, the institution. You think she doesn’t know the rules? She follows them perfectly. She literally walks one step behind her husband at formal occasions—you don’t think she gets that you don’t outshine your husband:
1) Especially at daytime events (evening dress is another matter)
2) While you are still in mourning? They’re going to be keeping it somber for a while. I’m surprised so many of you don’t get that now is not the time for a “pop of color.”

Plus the BRF is now dealing with the scandal over the racist "where are you from" lady at that event with Camilla the other day. So they are in mourning and also making extra effort not to put a foot wrong or attract unwanted attention, especially not in the US where M**** & Harry are relatively popular and there is some perception of the family having been racist towards them.

I actually agree that a high ponytail would have looked good with the outfit. Ponytails are not just for working out, despite what DCUM thinks. Kate wears them a lot for fancier occasions

I actually think it's a great suit, or at least, it looks great on her. The pants are difficult but she looks good (and not long-waisted or short-legged, which she is). And the jacket is a great look.

She most definitely is short legged (long waisted). She's tall and thin and still looks amazing, but her legs are comparatively short in proportion to her torso.

1) Looks spot-on for BOSTON
2) Hair in a low bun or high pony would have looked great

This is so crazy. Her feet are fine. Her leg length is fine. Wow. I’m no fan of hers but she looks great.
