Add to this:
bloating
insomnia
terrible periods

I have tried to "improve" on these by doing as much "self-care" as I can given my schedule. I go for walks. I put myself to bed early (if the schedule allows). I don't overschedule social stuff for myself (i don't really enjoy it too much). I do things that are low key.

But since I’ve turned 50 I can’t stand very bitter or spicy. I’ve started putting cream in my coffee and am contemplating just switching to tea. What is happening? (Honestly, up to this point I would have described my PERSONALITY as “black coffee.” I drank so much of it). Are changes in taste preferences a perimenopause thing? Or just a general getting old thing? I don’t get heartburn. I just don’t like the flavor anymore.

Tastes can definitely change due to hormonal changes.

I switched to low carb to lose a few pounds and found it seemed to address some of the symptoms like sweating, hot flashes, etc. for me, I felt much better overall and when perimenopause segued into menopause I had an ok time of it. I also stopped having migraines, tendonitis and reflux/GERD, so was a win all around, to my surprise. And also my jeans were not as tight. In my mid 50s I skipped a period twice, every other cycle, then they just stopped. Hot flashes, etc did not reoccur.

I got this from the library and followed it https://www.amazon.com/End-Your-Carb-Confusion-Customize/

Gushing period. Crime scene levels. Long periods--as in sometimes 2 weeks long.

After my last period that lasted from March 1 until St. Patrick's Day, I just had one that lasted just 5 days and I feel like throwing myself a little party. (And I only felt like I was bleeding to death for half a day or so!)

I have not had hot flashes, worsening PMS, weight gain, slowing metabolism or any other symptoms that I've really noticed. (I'm creeping up on 51).
