If you are giving away furniture, who pays for moving bill?

How much do you value the relationship with the mover? You clearly can’t drop the BIL but you can tell the mover to collect from BIL. He probably won’t pay and both will blame you. If you want to keep the mover you may have to just pay him.

Yes. No matter what, it's crummy to rip off hard-working people trying to run a small business.

OP, next time please provide all the details. It does make a difference between a random friend and a leech-y, lichen-y BIL.

I would have discussed this with the friends in advance. Rookie move.

But typically when I give something away, transport is on the other person.
