VC Andrews. I am also the poster from the other thread who is currently reading The Perfect Cheerleader. I like basically any book that would make a good Lifetime movie!

I'm in my mid-50s and I LOVE her books! They're such great stories! I'm re-listening to the Protector of the Small series now.

Also +1 Elizabeth, Jessica was kind of a b.

I read these semi-secretly in high school and loved the whole good twin/bad twin thing. Imagine my delight when the arts institute I attended got a pair of beautiful blonde identical twins, and one was sweet and one was kind of a betch

I don’t think I’m snobby but I have a hard time finding low brow books that don’t irritate me (like the characters in Grisham or Moriarty all drive me nuts). I really liked Bridget Jones diary and would like more fun reads like this.

Jack Reacher. Pure middle-aged dad fantasy.

Any witch romance mysteries, it appears to be an entire genre.

Liane Moriarty, Emily Giffin and Jennifer Weiner (for all of these authors I enjoyed some books more than others)

Me too. But I don’t think he really belongs in “low brow” (though I agree that a lot of book snobs with no familiarity would categorize him as such). I’m a voracious reader - regularly read everything including classics, contemporary ‘literary’ novels, mysteries/thrillers, westerns, sci-fi, non-fiction of all sorts, etc. etc. I’d say that King writes better than MANY contemporary writers who regularly get lauded in the literary press. I think there’s a bias and suspicion in that world against plot.
