Rivera Oven has and has not participated or replied to many of the newspaper and media requests for interviews versus Wells who has. Does anyone have any insight to why this? To me it appears like Rivera Oven seems disinterested in the election or this believes she’s the front runner who doesn’t need to try.

I get that impression too. I voted for her in the primary. I will be voting for Esther Wells in the general. I know everyone says she's anti LGBTQ+, but I think it's more she doesn't center and elevate LGBTQ+ issues. I want someone with fiscal knowledge to provide some actual oversight to MCPS' wheelings and dealings.

No, she doesn't just "not center and elevate LGBTQ+ issues." She is chairperson of the board of her church that says this on their website:

HUMAN SEXUALITY
The Bible teaches that legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, this Church opposes all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. (Rom. 1:18-32; Hebrews 13:4)

You do know most Christian churches say the same thing, right? So are you going to rule out Christians from holding office?

Separation of Church and State. the FIRST Amendment. As long as candidates abide by that, there is no problem.

Wrong. There are plenty of affirming Christian churches. It's evangelical Christians who are trying to legislate their religious beliefs so you can miss me with your 1st amendment talk.

Agree 100%. Thankfully, Christianity is not defined by MAGA Catholics or evangelicals Christians. Latter are arguably not even Christians in practice.

This is stupid because voting against the status quo has nothing to do with whether things will get better. Also MoCo has term limits for county council now so a bunch of council members, school board etc are new anyway.

They have caused so much damage in just 4 years. They have weak, almost nonexistent leadership. They continually skirt the rules. For being "leaders" of Montgomery County, one of the most educated counties in the nation, they sure do make sophomoric, facile policy. And we are all suffering for it. In other words, the term limits are too long, and we'd be in better shape if we voted at least some out and more competent people in.

Boom. I’m voting for Sullivan. I know the man has spelling issues, but he has the endorsement of the police - and he’s a successful black man who went through MCPD and owns an engineering firm in the County. IMHO, we need more people like him and fewer professional activists as politicians. And yes, he’s an R, but he condemned Jan 6 as it was ongoing.

Same here, I voted Sully. Elrich just hasn't been working fo the County. If Blair had won the primary, I'd have gone for Blair instead.

+1 I was rooting for Blair last summer but now I'm voting for Sullivan...
