I'm guessing abortion. Don't understand why OP wouldn't just be clear about it. Everyone knows the Catholic church's stance on it and everyone knows that a lot a Catholics don't pay any attention to it in their personal lives.

Or that gay people are not an abomination

Including gay priests

Is this true for priests and pastors as well?

Clearly, you’ve never seen a drunk or fat priest? Gluttony!

Or a gay priest (most of them!)

yes OP, make sure this ungodly woman (who has the temerity to volunteer to teach your child catechism for free!) gets publicly pilloried and thrown out of CCD and hissed at in the church parking lot after mass.

Sounds JUST like what Jesus would want!

I can't risk them figuring out truth on their own, or, gasp, using critical thinking skills. Hard pass. Only those people completely aligned with all my own opinions have the privilege of teaching my children. And it's especially crucial that they be taught that doctrine is not to be questioned. In fact, it's so bad it's called heresy and you can be sent to hell for eternity for that!

I’d report another impersonation but the moderator doesn’t seem to care.

I am a catechist at a liberal Catholic parish with an active LGBTQ ministry. I am pro-gay marriage and pro abortion rights.

PP is right- most parishes are desperate for volunteers, so unless you want to teach the class yourself, I would stay out of it.

FWIW, I don’t address either abortion or gay marriage with the first grade students. We do talk a lot about treating others with respect and caring.

IOW, pp has unsuccessfully complained about petty stuff to the moderator before

Didn't the Pope come out a few years back and say it's OK to love our gay children? Hate the sin, not the sinner and all that?

I thought Catholics were always claiming that their faith is a big tent, that not everyone had the same right wing fire breathing politics and beliefs? No?

It is a pretty big tent. It seems like OP is standing in the rightmost corner of it, complaining it’s too crowded and that the people in the leftmost corner should get out so they don’t infect her kid.

I’m PP and I guess I should add I can’t really blame her because I’m in the leftmost corner complaining that I don’t want the people on the other side infecting my kid with what I think are exclusionary and misogynistic views. But rather than kick others out of the tent, I think I’m just going to crawl out under the side wall.

So the anonymous OP of this thread, who is probably a troll, is enough to make you lose your religion?

I am certain that this is not a topic in my kids' CCD. It is only a topic in politics.

I think that the views espoused by the OP, whether troll or not, are enough to drive sane people out of the church. The PP who’s planning on going out under the wall has probably experienced enough people IRL like OP and her patience might be wearing thin with it.

So you make the statement “I thought Catholics were always claiming” as if you’re an outsider, and then you say you’re leaving Catholicism. Uh huh.

It is a mortal sin to advocate for abortion.

Saying that you will not enforce your views on others is not advocating.

Yes it is. It is advocating for legal abortion. "Not enforcing your views on abortion" is the same as advocating for legal abortion.
